The Tipton Slasher Silver Ornate chain and Fob: Former property of the Tipton Slasher (Provenance Black Country Bugle 1975 and 1976). William Perry (1820–1879), a British prize fighter of the 19th century, was champion of England. A statue stands in the town of Tipton, yards away from the Fountain Inn public house, which was once his headquarters. Born Tipton, Perry claimed the heavyweight boxing championship of England twice, in 1850 and in 1856. He was finally defeated by Tom Sayers in 1857. Perry, who was known as `The Tipton Slasher`, was buried at St John`s Church, Dudley
