Imperial German Prussian Infantry Regiment Nr 96 (7th Thuringen Infantry) Bugle, good example of a standard Prussian issue brass and nickel plated bugle with large Prussian eagle to the central cartouche. Nickel plated lower section is finely engraved ‘J.R. 96 – 1915’. Complete with the original mouth piece. Nicely stamped with makers details and dated 1915. Late Gordon Anderson collection
Victorian Volunteer Battalion Highland Light Infantry Officers Shoulder Belt Plate, fine example with a seeded back plate having overlay in the form of white metal facetted star with gilt metal crown above strung bugle having HLI to the centre, blank lower scroll for Volunteer battalion and elephant. Reverse with two hooks and two stud fittings. A very good example overall.
Victorian 39th West York Rifle Volunteers Officers Quilted Shako 1869-78, good example of a black cloth body shako with patent lower band and thin band to the top. Crowned blackened shako badge with strung bugle having 39 to the centre and strap with ‘WEST YORK RIFLES’. Black wool pom pom. Leather sweatband and crimson quilted lining to the interior. Thin leather chinstrap. Some wear and light mothing to the body of the shako. Good example.
WW1 German Prussian Field Issue Bugle, fine example of an Infantry issue combat bugle with Prussian eagle to the central cartouche. Bugle body is finished in thick field grey paint finish. Complete with the original mouth piece. Remains in very good overall condition. Late Gordon Anderson collection.
Post 1902 Rifles Astrakhan Busby, fine example of an Astrakhan busby for Rifles regiment with knotted cord boss having blackened crowned strung bugle, with brush plume. Green felt cloth top. Interior with leather sweatband and thin chinstrap. Robson & Sons paper label to the interior. Shows some wear but generally a good example.
Victorian 1845 Pattern Rifle Officers Sword, regulation blade by Mole No. M2473 etched with crowned royal cipher, strung bugle and foliage, regulation plated iron hilt with fixed side guard, wire bound fish skin covered grip, in its plated dress scabbard with two hanging rings. Blade 82cms. Good condition, plating worn overall.
British 1845 Pattern Officers Sword of the 20th (Artists) Middlesex Rifle Volunteers, fine regulation pattern officers sword with brass hilt having crowned VR cipher to the central cartouche. Grip with the original wire binding. Housed in its steel scabbard with two hanging rings. Polished blade etched with foliage, ‘MIDDLESEX 20TH ARTISTS’ Mars and Minerva profiles above strung bugle and ‘RIFLE VOLTRS’. Reverse of the blade with crowned cipher and Hobson & Sons retailers details. Some surface staining to the blade and exterior untouched. Blade 83cms, overall 101cms.
A George V regimental silver bugle, with the applied badge and emblem of the “1st Bn THE LOYAL REGIMENT (NORTH LANCASHIRE), applied and chased decoration, and the inscription “Presented by the Tientsin British Municipal Volunteer Corps North China, 1923-1925”, by Kohler and Son, London 1925, with retailers mark of “G. Potter and Co Aldershot”, 27.5cm long, 22.25 oz.
AN UNUSUAL MAMELUKE STYLE SABRE OF TIPU SULTAN INTEREST, 71cm blade, brass mounted hilt with trophy tiger's head pommel decorated with the bubri design favoured by Tipu Sultan and his guards, recurved crossguard, the ecusson cast with a slung bugle horn, horn grip, contained in its brass mounted leather scabbard, old repair to leather. The pommel presumably was taken from a captured sword. The characteristics of the pommel are not dissimilar to that of the on the sword of Captain Mackay in the National War Museum in Scotland and the gem set gilt one sold in these rooms from the state of Captain William Moffatt.
AN OFFICER'S SHOULDER BELT PLATE OF THE 51ST REGIMENT OF FOOT (THE 2ND YORKSHIRE WEST RIDING), the course stippled gilt plate with burnished gilt border surmounted by a large crowned white metal laurel wreath entwined with battle honours, central bugle horn with centred white metal 51 on a burnished gilt ground.
A Victorian Rifle Brigade Officers cross belt or pouch plate white metal, crowned "WATERLOO" over a Maltese Cross, bearing title circlet with central crowned strung bugle, resting within laurel, the cross bearing honours, having backing plate sandwiching black velvet, 3 5/8in. (9.2cm.) high. *Light surface wear only, good.
