Erlund Hudson (Eleanor Hudson) 1911 -2012). A well worked charcoal on paper portrait of woman, probably a fellow canteen volunteer. Dated 1944 and signed twice. H.63 W.48cm Hudson was a watercolourist, etcher and designer and is notable for her depictions of women at work during the Second World War. During the Blitz she volunteered as a driver of a mobile canteen supplying tea and sandwiches for the rescue services attending bomb sites. Though not an official war artist her drawings were purchased by the War Artists’ Advisory Committee with the help of Robert Austin. Her works can be found in collection of the Imperial War Museum and British Museum. Hudson has written the sitters name ‘Bella’ but her surname is illegible. Further research is needed. Provenance: from the collection of Trevor Frankland 1931 - 2011. Frankland was president of the Watercolor Society of which Hudson was a member. She has signed and inscribed the picture to him circa 1980.

11932 Austin 7 Box SaloonReg. no. MV 7732Chassis no. B5 3549Engine no. 150249The Box saloon introduced in the early 1930s, encompassed all the vintage-feel alongside a nod towards modernising the already 10-year-old model. The model was a good transition before the very ‘modern’ Ruby was introduced and it is still very useable today. This example has been a running restoration during the seven-year ownership, and work has covered the brakes, track rods, wheel bearings, radius arm cups etc. We are told that the engine is running and overall, our vendor describes the car as in fair condition. It is offered with a V5C.Estimate: £5,000 - 6,000To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on July 1st at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU with viewing on the 29th and 30th of June, you can also join us at our Nostalgia Social cars & coffee event on June 25th. 271959 Austin-Healey Frogeye SpriteReg. no. OSK 800Chassis no. AN5/15891Engine no. 9C-U-H/15588Transmission: ManualMileage: 39,813 (Indicated)MOT: March 2024 (Exempt)Nearly 50,000 Frogeyes were produced in total and you can see why, it’s a pretty little car with simple underpinnings meaning it’s easy to maintain and enjoy. Its quirky looks offer unusual features such as the front being one complete clam shell, there isn’t a boot lid and there are no handles on the outside of the doors. This early home market leaf green Sprite, built in April of 1959, has been used by a Healey enthusiast for a number of years, where he has taken part in local shows and classic car tours with car clubs such as Bath MC, Devizes & District MC as well as Cirencester MC. Some light modifications have been added as a result including the fitting of a 1098cc engine, navigators light, electric fuel pump, modern oil filter and remote clutch bleed. It has also had Mini headlights fitted and amber front indicator lenses. Owned since 1989, this car was restored the same year with new inner and outer sills, A-posts as well as some floor repairs. Four years ago, the engine was removed for a rebuild along with a new clutch and a re-conditioned gearbox, a 3.9:1 differential was also fitted. The owner has carried out all of the servicing and maintenance himself as many enthusiasts do. The car is well known in the owner’s club circle and offers a good drive. Sadly, some paint has been removed due to stickers being added and then removed following a charity event. The vendor also reports that the clutch does need bleeding, but it does run and drive. The sale includes a large amount of documentation including a current V5C and a heritage certificate, as well as a large number of receipts including the original purchase warranty receipt.. A copy of the original logbook is also included that was supplied by the DVLA. The seller has also included some spares, a tonneau cover, a wooden steering wheel, starter motor, spare throttle and clutch cables, accompanied by various books and manuals relating to the model.Estimate: £9,000 - 11,000To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on July 1st at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU with viewing on the 29th and 30th of June, you can also join us at our Nostalgia Social cars & coffee event on June 25th. Lot 30

1934 Austin 7 Type 65Reg: OC7134Chassis No: 187871Engine No. M248673 Discovered in the 1970s, OC 7134 was in poor but generally complete condition, and owned by a well-known Austin 7 enthusiast in Hampshire. He sold this type 65 in unrestored condition in the 1980s; restoration followed, retaining as many of the original Nippy parts as possible. When restored the main chassis members were replaced and bolted to the original cross members. A new floor was fitted, with the original number bolted to the floor. The front wings are original as is the bonnet, scuttle and rear end. The doors were re-skimmed as was the boot cover and the rear wings were made new. The engine at this time was a standard unit, but when the car was sold back to the Hampshire enthusiast a rare correct type original pressure fed engine was sourced and fitted about eight years ago. At the time the engine was checked and found not to require a rebuild, just a service. Before the current owner died, OC 7134 was much used and enjoyed; it requires a new custodian and is offered with a file of history that includes correspondence and photographs, old V5s, a green continuation logbook and a current V5C. A rare opportunity to acquire an original type 65 with an original pressure fed engine. To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on July 1st at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU with viewing on the 29th and 30th of June, you can also join us at our Nostalgia Social cars & coffee event on June 25th. Lot 401937 Austin 18/6 York 7-Seater SaloonReg. no. DOM 485Chassis no. E/RZ51619Engine no. 1FE12311Transmission: ManualMOT: Exempt Estimate: £8,000 – 10,000The Austin 18 was introduced in 1937 and was supplied in two different wheelbases to carry five or seven passengers. Its engine and front seat were mounted nine inches further forward than that of its predecessor, the York Sixteen. The chassis was also extended by three inches, giving plenty more passenger space. This example appears to be very original and presents very well, having been in a heated garage for many years. It was previously sold in our last auction and described as needing a recommission after being stood for a period of time. The current vendor purchased the car, then proceeded to do exactly that. Although the bodywork remains as before, it’s in good solid condition with some imperfections, the mechanicals have been overhauled to ensure the car runs and drives reliably. It would look at home at a show or used as a working classic. It is offered with a receipt for the 1985 purchase and a copy of an old V5.To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on July 1st at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU with viewing on the 29th and 30th of June, you can also join us at our Nostalgia Social cars & coffee event on June 25th. TBCTransmission: ManualMileage: 45,239 (Indicated)MOT: Exempt Estimate: £2,000 – 3,000The Wolseley 1300 was a British saloon car produced by the Wolseley Motor Company from 1967 to 1973. It was part of the BMC ADO16 family of cars, which included models such as the Morris 1100 and the Austin 1300. The Wolseley 1300 was positioned as a slightly more up-market version of the Austin and Morris models, with a more luxurious interior and extra chrome trim on the exterior. This off-white example is in good useable condition with fair bodywork showing some rust spots, the chrome work is in good order. The interior is quite tidy with black vinyl upholstery. It is reported to run and drive ok but could do with a service. The sale includes a current V5C and a small amount of history. To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on July 1st at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU with viewing on the 29th and 30th of June, you can also join us at our Nostalgia Social cars & coffee event on June 25th. A variety of motor vehicles from the late Peter Sidnell who rented the same Wiltshire barn for over 30 years and was an avid fettler and classic car enthusiast. The majority of the cars were acquired before the early 80’s through friends and family where Peter had previously helped maintain their vehicles.E613 NOU was first registered in April 1998 as a manual, 4-door 1300cc model. The interior is quite tidy, and the panels are generally straight with just some minor surface rust; the underside does require some attention. It looks to require minimum work to get it back on the road considering it has been in a barn for so long that there’s not even any digital MOT records! The Metro is supplied with a current V5C document and a key.To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on July 1st at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU with viewing on the 29th and 30th of June, you can also join us at our Nostalgia Social cars & coffee event on June 25th. A variety of motor vehicles from the late Peter Sidnell who rented the same Wiltshire barn for over 30 years and was an avid fettler and classic car enthusiast. The majority of the cars were acquired before the early 80’s through friends and family where Peter had previously helped maintain their vehicles. The Metro was first registered in May 1988 and sold by Lesters of Trowbridge, it shows just 54,132 miles on the clock, although this is difficult to confirm due to a lack of history and it not having been on the road since the system went digital in 2006. Having looked over all six cars, body wise, this looks to be the best of the bunch. Aside from storage paint blemishes, it has some damage to the front wings, but the sweet three door shell appears to be quite straight with its factory trim and hub caps still intact. The underside and subframes look to be in very good order which could suggest the mileage is genuine. With a spruce up, the interior could be equally impressive. This car also features a sunroof. It is offered with a current V5C and a key.To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on July 1st at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU with viewing on the 29th and 30th of June, you can also join us at our Nostalgia Social cars & coffee event on June 25th. The majority of the cars were acquired before the early 80’s through friends and family where Peter had previously helped maintain their vehicles.PHT 526Y is the earliest of the six Metros at the sale, registered in August of 1982 and believed to be a Wiltshire car most of its life. It shows just 62,297 miles on the clock, although this is almost impossible to confirm due to lack of history and with it not having been on the road since the system went digital in 2006. The three-door shell appears quite solid on the exterior but will certainly require some welding. The engine bay looks solid and the interior appears to be complete and presentable. The four-door manual Metro was last taxed in 2001 so is quite possibly one of the last cars to enter the barn. Wilde, Oscar: (1854-1900) writer, an original signed letter, to 'Cook' [believed Edward Tyas Cook (1857-1919), a journalist who worked at the Pall Mall Gazette, and later founder of the Westminster Gazette in 1893], 7 pages, undated and on 'Castle Hotel, Windsor' headed paper, reading 'My Dear Cook, I was very much pleased with the article. it was exceedingly fair and the whole tone of it right. And I must thank you for upholding your services. I think however that the rule about inverted commas is a little strict. For instance: in Roden Noel's book there occurs this amazing sentence. "I know not any artist of note, unless it be Edgar Poe, Bulver[?], Lytton, Disraeli, Mr Alfred Austin whom we may affiliate on Byron"!!! I quote it as follows... 'that Edgar Poe, Disraeli and Mr Alfred Austin are "artists of note whom we may affiliate on Byron". I have removed the inverted commas in my proof - but I think they might have stood. I have done Skipsey and two other posts for you - you will have the M.S. [manuscript] on Monday. I return to town tomorrow morning. Have you any more books for me? I suppose Henry James' last novel is being done? Very sincerely yours, Oscar Wilde.' The letter is likely to date from early 1877 - Wilde had submitted a review of Joseph Skipsey's 'Carols from the Coal Fields' to the Pall Mall Gazette at this time. From the estate of the late Peter Farley, https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2022/nov/17/peter-farley-obituaryPages loose, Browning and finger marks to edges, especially the first.

This remarkable anonymous gunstocker, named the master of the animal head tendril (Meister Der Tierkopfranke), was probably employed at the Imperial court in Vienna where eleven firearms attributed to him remain extant and are now preserved in the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Dated firearms suggest a period of activity between 1624-59 for this maker, or workshop, making the present gun one of his earlier works. More than fifty wheel-lock guns, rifles and pistols, and one flintlock rifle with this distinctive carving have been identified to date, three of which were made for Emperor Ferdinand III. The quality of the silver encrustation and carving on the present rifle is of a notably high quality within this group and compares closely with another sporting rifle by him, also from the collection of Joe Kindig Jr., now preserved in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (acc. no. 2018.103). The gun in New York has been described as a masterpiece of German baroque gunmaking. Part proceeds to benefit the Acquisition Fund of the Arms and Armor department, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
