Austin J Forty. Two circa 1950 colour brochures (code dated Sep 1950) promoting not only the short-lived Pathfinder Special, but also the J40 Roadster. Both in very good condition Historic Note: Austin children's pedal-operated cars were made in South Wales by disabled miners, from 1949. The Pathfinder was based on the Jamieson OHV Austin Seven racing car of the 1930s, of which about 1000 were manufactured. The J40 was based on the 1948 A40 Devon and Dorset models, of which over 32,000 were made. (2)

Together with two c1954 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire 234 brochures and a Jowett Javelin & Jupiter double-fold brochure with cover artwork by Roy Nockolds. *Austin Seven. A Dover Patent steering wheel dating from the 1920s, sound, but in need of a new hard-plastic grip. 15-inch diameter, the central boss in sound order. Also, a Spare Bulb-Holder, being a brass cylinder with bayonet-fitted caps at each end, with fittings to hold motor-car bulbs, and an aluminium-framed rear view mirror (3)

Four small Royal Worcester cups and saucers, three saucers signed by F Harper, another saucer signed by WH Austin, the cups are signed by WH Austin, T Lockyer, F Harper, the other indistinctly signed, all painted with apples, pears and berries on a gilded ground, cups 3cm high, saucers 10cm diameter (8) CONDITION REPORT: Lot 197 - one cup by MH Prise with hairline crack to base, gilding rubbed, looks to have had area of restoration near handle, hairline crack also running through a grape, saucer by F Harper with crazing and faint crazing/hairlines to base, remainder all have faint crazing but generally good, two cups and saucers do not pair in terms of by the same artist
Admiral Sir Douglas A. Gamble 1908 signed Navy official conduct certificate on 7 x 6 inch sized pages. These were to certify, when Junior Officers moved or the Captain moved that their conduct was up to standard. 1856 - 1934 Cmdr. 4th Battle Sqdn. 1905 and 6th Cruiser Sqdn. 1910. Admiral Sir Douglas Austin Gamble KCVO 8 November 1856 - 23 May 1934 was a Royal Navy officer who commanded the 4th Battle Squadron. Gamble joined the Royal Navy in 1870. After serving in the Naval Intelligence Department at the Admiralty from 1893, he became commanding officer of the protected cruiser HMS Hyacinth in 1902, commanding officer of the armoured cruiser HMS Kent in 1903 and commanding officer of the battleship HMS Canopus in 1905 before becoming commanding officer of the torpedo school HMS Vernon in 1907. Gamble became Naval Advisor to the Turkish Government in 1909 and Commander of the 6th Cruiser Squadron in 1910. He then served in World War I as Commander of the 4th Battle Squadron with his flag in the battleship HMS Benbow from 1914 before joining the Naval War Staff at the Admiralty in 1915 and retiring in 1917.
