Eleven works comprising sketches and mixed media pieces by: Phil Whiting Nicola Bealing Danny Fox Geoffrey Hands Eleanor Mayer Mary Fletcher Bernard Irwin Rachael Reeves Lucy Austin Anne Houghton Anon These lots are being sold on behalf of The Penwith Supporters Group for the charity Freedom from Torture. These drawings, which have been generously donated by both emerging and established artists, were originally exhibited 2013, as part of Drawing The Line, a charity event organised by artist Kate Walters and hosted by one of Cornwall's premier galleries: The Millennium in St Ives. Drawing the Linea tremendous success, raising almost £10,000 for Freedom from Torture's funds. Freedom from Torture, formerly the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture, has been working for 25 years to provide direct clinical services to survivors of torture who arrive in the UK, as well as striving to protect and promote their rights.

Robert Ihlee NEAC, British 1883-1986- Figure at an exit to the village; oil on panel, 38x45.5cm, (may be subject to Droit de Suite) Provenance: with Austin Desmond Fine Art, London, according to label attached to the reverse Note: Painter and draughtsman, born in London. He was apprenticed to Ferranti as an engineer in 1902, but entered Slade School of Fine Art, 1906-10. After two solo shows at Carfax Gallery, 1912-14, Ihlee worked as an engineering draughtsman in Peterborough during World War I. The year after he became a member of NEAC, in 1921 Ihlee had a successful show at Leicester Galleries, but then settled in Collioure, in the south of France. Although he had a solo exhibition at Chenil Gallery in 1926, between the wars his life and exhibiting career was in France; his second wife, Isabelle, was French. He returned to England when World War II broke out, working in a factory in Leicester, settling eventually in West Deeping, Lincolnshire. He had a solo show at St Peter's College Hall, Peterborough, with Arts Council support, in 1951, and another in Sleaford in 1968. There was a show seven years after he died at Rutland Sixth Form College, Oakham, then in 1978 a retrospective at Graves Art Gallery in Sheffield and Belgrave Gallery. Victoria & Albert Museum, Manchester City Art Gallery and Cecil Higgins Art Gallery, Bedford, hold work in their permanent collection.
