1971 Austin Maxi 1750Make: Austin Model: Maxi Year: 1971Mileage: 75944VIN: AH5SC14371MConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: FXD450JTransmission: manualThis Austin Maxi MkII 1750 is an early example, having been registered in March 1971; the 1748cc Maxi was only launched in October 1970, with the MkII incorporating a number of improvements such as gearchange rods (instead of cables), better sound insulation, new seat facings and an all-new veneered wood dash. The car has had six former registered keepers from new and is now showing 75,944 miles on its odometer. Its last MoT expired in November 2017, as an historic vehicle, it no longer requires annual testing. The history folder includes the current V5C plus a few previous ones. There are a couple of invoices for aerosol sprays from 2012 plus MoT certificates from 1986, 2002 to 2012, and 2016, with the mileage at the latter test indicated as 74,419 miles. Lot 330

1946 Austin 8Make: Austin Model: 8Year: 1946Mileage: 5187VIN: 60669Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: GVO671Transmission: manualThe Austin 8 was introduced in February 1939 and, unlike with many British cars, production continued into the war. It was only in 1943 that manufacture briefly paused, restarting again in 1945 and running through to 1948. This example was registered in July 1946 and has only had one previous owner according to the V5C. However, there is a buff logbook in the history folder that lists other owners earlier in the car's life. One fictional owner was Miranda Hart as Matron Camilla Fortescue-Cholmondeley-Browne, commonly known as Chummy, in the BBC TV series Call the Midwife - the car belonged to her character and there are a couple of pictures from the set of her inside it included in the history file.

1937 Austin 10 Cambridge Make: Austin Model: 10 Cambridge Year: 1937Mileage: 22162VIN: GRL126067Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: RSL120Transmission: manualThe vendor acquired this 1937 Austin 10 Cambridge saloon in 2012 to use at his wedding during that year, but admits he has done little with it since then. Not much history is known about the car, but it is understood to have belonged to an Austin 10 Drivers' Club member in the past and was possibly restored by him at some point. The Austin now requires refurbishment to return to road use. It starts, runs and drives but the battery isn't charging as it needs the correct control box. All the tyres are now perished. An electric fuel pump is fitted, but the original is still present. Although the car was manufactured in 1937, it has a registration date of December 1978, as it is believed that the car was either returned to the road or re-registered on that date. The numberplate is believed to be non-original and is also non-transferable. The odometer shows 22,162 miles. Included in the history file are the V5C, some old tax discs, and some Austin 10 Drivers' Club booklets from 1993 and 2009.

Lot 569

1934 Austin 16 York Make: AustinModel: 16 YorkYear: 1934Mileage: 0VIN: 4110416Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: ARH803Transmission: ManualThis 1934 Austin 16 York - a longer wheelbase version of the mainstream 16 saloon - was built in 1934 but, to the best of the vendor's knowledge, has been stood for at least 40 years after being taken off the road by its original owner. Because it had fallen off the DVLA's system, it had to be re-registered in September 2008, albeit with the same registration it had always had. The Austin is being sold as a restoration project; it doesn't currently run and requires a full rebuild. 42,976 miles are showing on the odometer. The paperwork folder includes the V5C, Austin warranty document, a trio of very delicate invoices dating from the 1940s and some documentation relating to the dating of the car such as an inspection report and letter from the Vintage Austin Register as well as a photocopy of a 1956 tax disc.

Lot 579

1972 Austin Morris AmbulanceMake: Austin MorrisModel: Ambulance Year: 1972Mileage: 88596VIN: 10356Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: TEW771LTransmission: ManualThis 1972 Austin Morris ambulance is based on an EA (Easy Access) van with Wadham Stringer coachwork. It was originally used by the Huntingdon and Cambridge Ambulance Service before being sold and used by the eccentric artist and performer Bruce Lacey, who used it for several years before it came off the road. It has now been off the road for many years, so requires recommissioning or restoration. The vendor reports that both the chassis and fibreglass body are solid, and believes that most of the work would be in recommissioning the 2520cc engine, drivetrain and wiring for future use. It even has the original stretchers onboard. The only documentation with the ambulance is the V5C, showing the ambulance was registered in December 1972 and has had just two registered former keepers. The mileage indicated on the odometer is 88,596 miles.

The vendor advises that it has previously been running. The car is no longer recording on DVLA's system and re-registration will be required. Comes with some some restoration images and Austin 7 articles. One copy sheet states the car number as B4 2353 which was manufactured between July 1931 and January 1932 but this has not been verified.

It has just been recommissioned with a new battery, water pump, fan belt, tailgate struts and reconditioned front brake calipers with fresh pads, plus a fresh MoT until the end of May 2023. 1980 Austin Morris Mini Clubman Auto Make: Austin MorrisModel: Mini ClubmanYear: 1980Mileage: 77437VIN: XL2W2000683431Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: YPX2VTransmission: AutomaticThe vendor acquired this Vermillion Mini Clubman automatic in 2007, when it required minor work. He tells us he has used it mainly for shows but has also been driven to Cornwall (from Norfolk) several times with no issues. The vendor notes that very few automatic Clubmans are now left on the road. The Mini was registered in January 1980 and is now showing 77,437 miles on its odometer. The car presents well, inside and out, albeit with some minor bubbling showing in the paintwork around the guttering. The paperwork folder includes the present and past V5Cs, along with an MoT certificates from 2017 and 2019. There is no current MoT; as an historic vehicle, the Mini no longer requires annual testing. There's also the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust factory record copy.
