TXO 827, an Austin A35 two door Saloon, 948 cc petrol in ''Court Grey'' (beige), first reg'd on 2nd April 1957, 36,590 miles showing. An uncompleted project due to the sad demise of the mechanical engineer owner, and sold with what appears to be virtually all components. The engine, which has every sign of having been rebuilt is yet to be installed but is with the car as are a host of other parts including the carburettor, manifold, starter motor, dynamo, clutch, new brake parts and a new stainless steel exhaust bearing testament to the late owner's attention to quality detail. The maroon interior is in nice original condition and even the Austin radiator muff is present as well as the somewhat distressed simulated Leopard skin seat covers. Included is an ''Austin A30 and A35 Workshop manual'' and an ''Austin A35 models Running and Maintenance instructions'' Book, an old Clifton's tax disc holder with an old tax disc which expired on 30/11/81 and is the only available evidence as to when the vehicle was last on the road. The front bumper sports RAC and Civil service Motoring Association badges and two period spotlights. The document has not been found, a replacement has been applied for by the executors and will follow as soon as available. No M.O.T. or tax and under new legislation an M.O.T. test is apparently not mandatory. The sills still have the suppliers' threshold plates present ''Clifton's Austin Specialists, Lee, SE12, Eltham 3801'' and the vehicle provides an ideal subject for restoration whereas the view of some enthusiasts may be to keep the body-work in ''oil rag'' condition.
A quantity of Austin interest Books and booklets including a hardbound ''Cassell Book of the Austin A35'', first edition 1960, a Haynes A35 and A40 manual No. 118, a Sunday Times published A30 and A35 Motor manual for Saloons, Countryman, Estate cars, Pick-ups and Vans, Vintage Austin booklets, vintage and veteran Motor accessory catalogues, etc.
