WW2 RAF Battle of France Casualty Uniforms.A scarce grouping worn by Pilot Officer Norman Alastair Lloyd Smith a pilot with 235 Squadron who was shot down and killed on the 12th May 1940. Comprising: Service dress tunic. This with flat pilot wings, Pilot Officer rank lace and brass RAF buttons. Retaining tailors label of Austin Reed with ink name 'N.A.L.SMITH 28.6.38'. Overall condition is good, period repair to right sleeve and stitching fault to one armpit. ... Accompanied by RAF mess uniform. Jacket, waistcoat, overalls. The jacket with bullion pilot wings (slight moth). Overall GC. Accompanied by a small number of hand written note, discovered by the vendor in the pocket of the tunic. These dated February and March 1940 including receipt for a .38 revolver Pilot Officer Norman Alastair Lloyd Smith was commissioned into the RAF LG July 1938. Qualifying as a Pilot in May 1940 he was serving with 235 Squadron which operated the Bristol Blenheim. On the second day of the German Blitzkrieg on the 12th May he was briefed for a support operation over the Hague, the Squadron were jumped by BF109's of 4/JG27, Pilot Officer's smith aircraft was last seen with his starboard engine on fire and crashed into a field all three crew were killed.
A 1961 Triumph TR3A, unregistered, chassis number TS75124, black. The TR3A with its rugged and handsome good looks featured the wider front grille to aid cooling became available in 1957/58. The styling would remain little changed with only minor revisions until the Giovanni Michelotti designed TR4 became available in 1961.This RHD example was exported to South Africa as part of Britain?s drive to earn much needed revenue. Our vendor has a home in South Africa were he purchased the car in restored condition and he used the Triumph there before repatriating it a few years ago.The TR3A still presents very well with Black coachwork, matching weather gear, maroon leather interior and painted wire wheels. Our vendor describes the Triumph as a rust free example in good condition in all respects and driving well. The car has not been registered with DVLA but all duties have been paid and all VOSA documentation is available to facilitate a smooth transaction. A 1932 Austin 12/6 Harley saloon, registration number GW 7830, chassis number 11423, engine number 11444, black. This charming Austin 12 was in the custodianship of father and son William and Richard Gould from Staffordshire between 1964 & 2015, when our vendor purchased it. There are photographs on file of the Austin during restoration when the Gould?s owned the car. Since acquiring the Austin our vendor has undertaken some refurbishment including re-trimming the interior with new door cards, carpets and seat covering. The engine has had a new head gasket and re-cored radiator amongst other maintenance and sounded healthy on our inspection. Now running well this honest example will be offered for auction with a history file containing photographs, receipts and workshop and owners manuals. A 1935 Austin 10/4 Lichfield saloon, registration number CMV 131, chassis number G72498, engine number IG23457, cream over black. This charming 10/4 saloon is presented in an original oily rag condition. On our inspection to take the catalogue photographs, the Austin started readily and sounded healthy. Recent recommissioning works carried out include the fitting of new king pins, bearings and shims and overhauling of the ignition system. The body is finished in black with a cream roof and the interior is trimmed in green leather which has a delightful original patina. Now ready to be used as is or restored as time and funds allow. A 1986 Austin Mini 1000 Chelsea, registration number C150 FKJ, red. Introduced in 1985, the Mini City based Chelsea was a limited edition of 1500 cars for the UK market. They were finished in Targa red with grey bumpers and door handles, special badges and decals with the Chelsea logo, 12 inch alloy wheels and Osprey grey with a red piped interior. This particular example is said to be in good all round condition having covered less than 57,000 miles from new. Recent works carried out include a cooling system overhaul with new water pump, hoses, radiator, heater and a full service with replacement headlights.
