Publisher's original yellow cloth, author's facsimile signature stamped in black to upper cover, printed paper spine label, original black and tan dust-jacket, fine.FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING, with 'skycrapers' for 'skyscrapers' to p 105, line 12, among other errors. Reportedly, McMurtry had all copies of the error ridden printing withdrawn and they were destroyed, with 15 managing to survive. Although, APG notes 'seems more common.' Still a FINE COPY of a legendary rarity.

Folio (440 x 340mm). Woodcut illustrations by the "ARC" engraving Co., Limited, after Austin Osman Spare, some full-page. Original green buckram lettered in black, uncut (corners lightly bumped, some very light staining). Provenance: original invoice from Otto Schulze & Co., Edinburgh, loosely-inserted, made out to Dr. H. B. McCaskie on 27th March 1909 for £1-5-6, and "out of print" added by the bookseller below. FIRST EDITION OF THE ARTIST'S FIRST (SELF-)PUBLISHED WORK. NUMBER 41 OF 265 COPIES SIGNED BY THE ARTIST. Harper A1a. A printed "Foreword", appearing on page 4 of the book, by the unknown (and unexplained) "C.H.L." gives a brief synopsis but sheds very little light on this puzzling work: "In venturing to submit this, the first collection of Drawings to Austin Spare's few friends and admirers, we can only hope for the kindly reception that so many have promised ... In turning contemptuously, as many will, from these Spare creations, remember - they cannot be proved to be senseless although they may seem so to us ...[etc]."

Introduction by James Guthrie, woodcut frontispiece and 12 plates by Austin Osman Spare, illustrations (brown ink spot to first few leaves affecting frontispiece and title, some light offsetting, occasional light staining). Original vellum-backed green paper pictorial boards, uncut (vellum lightly stained, boards a little rubbed at edges with stain rubbed away on upper cover). FIRST EDITION, second issue. LIMITED TO 300 COPIES [unnumbered and unsigned]. Harper A2b: "This edition had an additional illustration 'Pleasure' [as a frontispiece], the introduction by James Guthrie was reset to cover one and a half pages, and some vignettes rearranged."

Balfour confirms that he has sent his subscription for the National Review and expresses his great satisfaction at knowing that it is about to enter the tenth year of its existence, further remarking ‘It has been of great use to the party, and I trust it will continue to receive from those who are in a position to subscribe to it, the support it deserves’. VG Alfred Austin (1835-1913) English Poet Laureate 1896-1913, founder and editor of the National Review from 1883-87 (with William Courthope) and 1887-93.

 WATSON CHARLES 'TEX': (1945-     ) American Murderer, a central member of the Manson Family led by Charles Manson. A.L.S., Charles, to both sides of the interior of a folding 8vo greetings card, n.p. (California), n.d. (1980), to Ron (sic) Deeley. Watson thanks his correspondent for their letters and adds that he hopes that he will also write to his wife, Kristin Joan Svege, continuing to provide her address and further adding 'We have a ministry called Abounding Love Ministries. We distribute my teaching tapes. So if you want some write Kristin. O.K. Hope you read my book “Will You Die For Me”', also remarking 'You ask about sending me stuff. My needs are met in the Lord. So no need to send anything. We want to bless you! I would sure love to pet your dogs. I miss dogs. Not pet one in 11 years. Boo Whoo!' The inside of the card also features some printed text and a religious quotation from the Gospel of Matthew. Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Watson and bearing his printed return address label. About EX   Charles 'Tex' Watson was portrayed by Austin Butler in Quentin Tarantino's film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).

Metal body in red, with a tan leatherette seat, and original chrome fittings (including the ' A ' mascot), grille and number plate holder etc. Opening bonnet which reveals its original dummy engine with removable spark plugs and period battery. Opening boot lid with chrome handle. Beautiful example. Measures approx 154cm long. From a private collection of vintage pedal cars. Most of which have been fully and professionally restored to a better-than-factory condition. Where electrics are fitted, they are fully working, and where engines are fitted these too are also fully working. An incredibly rare original vintage 1940's Austin made Pathfinder child's pedal car. Metal body in cream, with chrome and red trim. The interior with a red padded seat, and the dash with faux-dials. Handbrake fitted. Leather straps hold the bonnet in place, which opens to reveal a miniature engine with spark plugs and leads present. Very likely the best example of this pedal car in existence. This model was a forerunner to the popular Austin J40 pedal cars, but proved too expensive to make so were discontinued after a short while before the cheaper J40 came along. A stunning car. Measures approx 168cm long. From a private collection of vintage pedal cars. Most of which have been fully and professionally restored to a better-than-factory condition.
