A 1965 Austin Gipsy, registration number DLE 525C, green. Introduced by Austin in 1958 to replace the previous Champ, the Gipsy was a direct competitor to the Land Rover. Visually similar but unlike the Land Rover, the Gipsy's body was constructed from steel and not aluminium. The Gipsy had some technically significant differences from the Land Rover, the upper most was the flexitor rubber independent suspension which offered the Gipsy's occupants a more comfortable ride over rough terrain. We are advised by the vendor that the mileage of 1,700 is believed to be so low due to the vehicle being in Home Office Military storage for a considerable length of time. The Gipsy is presented in very original condition apart from a recently replaced canvas hood and service consumables. With contemporary Series I Land Rovers now commanding such high prices in today's market this alternative 4x4 offers a similar experience at a more attractive price. V5C, no MOT, tax exempt See illustrations
A 1958 Austin Healey 100/6, registration number UGK 42, Old English white over green. From information supplied by the vendor it can be ascertained that the Healey was intended to be an original right hand drive export model. From the Heritage Certificate it can be seen that the Healey was originally supplied in black with a red interior and black hood, was on wire wheels, had overdrive, laminated windscreen, heater, road speed tyres and luggage rack. It would appear that the subsequent export did not happen, as the car remained in Britain and there is not any dealer or country of destination recorded. There is a detailed history accompanying the Healey history, covering previous owners, storage and restoration works carried out. In 2014 considerable service works were undertaken, including refurbished braking and fuel systems, new SU fuel pump, refurbished carburettors, 123 electronic ignition and all ignition components. A major refurbishment took place between 1995 and 2005 with the chassis, bodywork, electrical system, instruments, interior, rewire and full respray being carried out. This well presented and handsome Healey is offered with a history file containing past MOTs, receipts and correspondence. V5, V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations
A 1954 Austin A40 Somerset, registration number OXK 616, grey/blue. This A40 has been in the vendor's possession for over 35 years. A retired garage proprietor he successfully rallied the Austin during the 1990s with class wins on the Welsh Retro, Targa Rusticana and Britannia Rally. The Austin has been modified with a larger 1500cc (original 1200cc) engine, high compression cylinder head, twin 1½ inch SU carburettors, uprated suspension, 50 inch 5J wheels, A60 front brakes, Riley 1.5 differential (4.5 to 1), a 65 amp alternator and the wiring loom has been fitted with relays and fuses throughout. There is a large spares package accompanying the Austin containing various spares including three engines, three gearboxes and two rear axles. This proven rally car is now only for sale due to the vendor's impending loss of garage space. RF60, ***no V5***, V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustration
A 1953 Austin Healey 100, registration number TDD 47, chassis number BN1 1140267, Healey Ice blue. The sensational new Austin Healey 100 caused a major stir when it was debuted at the 1952 London Motor Show. The all new Healey sports car was intended to be a low cost high performance sports car aimed squarely at the US market. The 100 sourced its major components from the Austin Atlantic saloon including the 2660cc four cylinder engine tuned to 90 bhp which when installed in the lighter streamlined Healey resulted in a genuine 100 mph plus sports car. It was equipped with a four speed gearbox with the bottom gear blanked off which with the overdrive gave five usable gear ratios. The Healey 100 is a muscular sports car for the purest and its performance was not bettered by its successor the 100/6 and was only surpassed when the Healey 3000 became available in 1959. This particular example has been in the vendor's possession for a remarkable 41 years. The car was registered on 1st September 1953 and is arguably finished in the best colour combination of Ice blue with a dark blue interior, the same colour combination as it left the factory. It sits on recently replaced chrome wire wheels with correct style tyres and has a desirable Sebring louvered bonnet fitted. We are advised by the client that he had the Healey resprayed in 1976 and the car still looks bright. Recent expenditure includes the fitting of an aluminium fuel tank and a general health check at a Healey specialist. With a believed genuine 69,000 miles on the odometer, this rare early chassis number Healey 100 is eligible for some of the world's most prestigious sporting events including the Mille Miglia, Le Mans Classic and Tour Auto to name but a few. Now coming to the market for the first time in over four decades this extremely original low mileage Healey is certainly a must for any serious collection. A 1955 Austin A90 Westminster historic FIA rally car, registration number PSV 545, black. This A90 has formed part of a collection of rally cars. It was discovered as a barn find and the vendor informs us that it was exchanged for fabricating a trials sump guard. The Austin has been in the vendor's possession for over 20 years and was previously registered FVV 1344. The A90 was restored to compete in the 1994 Monte Carlo Challenge and was initially rebuilt to original specification apart from twin 1½ SU carburettors, seat belts, fog lights, a Halda trip meter and snow tyres. On its first Monte the Austin as described by the vendor had lost all brakes by the time it had reached Beaune in France but still managed to finish a very creditable and impressive 20th overall. By the time the Austin was ready for its second Monte, the car had been extensively uprated. It now featured a three litre engine from a Wolseley 110, four speed floor change gearbox from an Austin Princess, Wolseley 110 front disc brakes and the ability to fit snow chains to the rear wheels. The Austin has been campaigned in several other rallies, including LeJog finishing 7th overall on one occasion. The Austin is offered for auction with a comprehensive spares package including a spare 2600cc engine, two gearboxes, rear wheels with snow chains and a complete set of glass. The accompanying history file contains numerous receipts, handbooks, past MOTs and expired FIA documents. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustration
A 1953 Austin K9 Loadstar cattle lorry, brown. This rare and very original K9 Loadstar has resided in the same Somerset village of Middlezoy since its first registration. Both the first and current owner are farmers, who used the lorry to transport cattle to Bridgwater Market. The lorry has been in dry storage for a good number of years, but has been started and moved on a regular basis and it certainly sounded in rude health on our inspection for the catalogue photographs. Unfortunately the logbook has been lost, but the vendor has contacted Somerset County Archives and acquired relevant documentation from them which should enable the next owner to register the lorry with its original registration. No V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations
A 1957 Austin Healey 100/6, registration number 525 YUG, chassis number BN4L-O-35815, engine number 26D763760H, Colorado red with white side panels. Introduced in 1956 the 100/6 preceded the original 100. It was revamped with the C Series 2.6 litre straight six engine, replacing the original Austin Atlantic four cylinder engine, had a four speed gearbox, and a lengthened wheelbase from seven feet six inches to seven feet eight inches, which would allow the inclusion of two occasional rear seats in the BN4 variant. Originally a left hand drive export model which was transported to New York in 1957 and then would appear to have spent some time in California until 1975. Little is known until BN4L-O-35815 arrived back on these shores in 1991 via Stanstead Airport minus an engine. The Healey passed through various owners with varying degrees of restoration and maintenance being carried out, including the fitting of an incorrect 2912cc engine, until a major restoration was carried out by marque specialists Bill Rawles Classic Cars in 2012. During the restoration a new correct 2660cc engine was installed due to the previous engine being unserviceable. Further improvements carried out by Bill Rawles include a front disc brake conversion, Mallory distributor, alternator conversion, spin on oil filter kit, new tonneau cover, a full chassis internal Waxoyl treatment, a set of new spinners, all rubber bushes and gaiters were renewed, a new odometer was installed to match a non-matching instrument, new 72 spoke stove enamelled wire wheels and tyres were fitted, a full gearbox rebuild was carried out with overdrive on 3rd and 4th, various body improvements and engine details were carried out to meet concours condition. Since all of this remedial work was carried out the vendor now describes the car as in an excellent concours condition and his views would certainly seem to be justified as the car was awarded second in class (100/6;3000 Mk I and Mk II) at Austin Healey Club International, Farncombe in 2015 (certificate on file). With big Healeys becoming ever more popular with both the old guard and new enthusiasts, this meticulously restored example and concours entrant would certainly be an excellent example to embark on Healey ownership. A 1933 Austin Seven two door saloon, registration number 756 XUH, green over black. Herbert Austin's baby Austin was designed with the intention of offering affordable motoring to a wider audience. Introduced in 1922 the car would remain in production until 1939 with over 290,000 vehicles rolling off the production line. This particular two door saloon has been subject of a body off rebuild by its garage proprietor owner. During the restoration the ash frame for the roof structure was replaced before a new headlining, roof covering and the original sliding sunroof were recovered. The rest of the body was renewed as necessary and a full respray in green over black was carried out. The chassis was stripped and repainted and all of the running gear has been renewed with new and reconditioned components as necessary and the engine has been fully rebuilt. The interior has seen a similar attention to detail with reupholstered green leather seats, new door cards and carpets. There is an accompanying photograph album illustrating the restoration. This charming Austin Seven is now ready to be enjoyed by the next custodian. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations
