A 1927 Austin Seven Chummy, registration number BS 9802, chassis number A4/5427, Kingfisher blue over black. This charming four seat tourer rolled out of Austin's Longbridge factory on 15th July 1927. The Chummy originally carried the registration number VW 679 and was painted maroon. At some point during the 1950s A4/5427 was saved from a scrap yard by the Sharpe Brothers, the well known and respected Essex based collectors. The Sharpes would retain the Chummy for the next 50 years displaying it in their collection. It was subsequently purchased from the collection in 2007 by a previous owner and during that custodianship the Austin would benefit from some refurbishment including repainting the body Kingfisher blue over black, retrimming the seats in black leather, fitting a new Serck radiator, rewiring the car, renewing the carpets, rebuilding the magneto and installing a new hood. The Chummy was then sold at Bonhams Olympia 2007 sale (lot 616) and would subsequently form part of the Exmoor Classic Car Museum Collection until September 2012 when it was offered for sale at Bonhams Beaulieu auction in September 2012 as part of the museum dispersal sale where it was purchased by our vendor. Since acquiring the Austin he has spent considerable sums maintaining and improving the car with bills on file from Tim Whellock, a recognised marque specialist, for an engine rebuild, partial rewire, running gear maintenance, rebuilding the brakes, rebuilding the wheels and refurbishment of the magneto. The Austin is offered for sale with an accompanying history file containing recent and historical receipts, Bonhams catalogue information and sundry paperwork. For many enthusiasts of the marque, the Chummy remains the quintessential Seven and today is highly sought after. RF60, V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations

Although previewed at the 1953 Earls Court Motor Show, customer deliveries of the Jensen 541 did not start until 1955. An avant-garde design, its strikingly handsome, Eric Neale-penned GRP bodywork clothed an immensely strong tubular steel chassis frame. An accomplished GT, it was powered by an Austin 3993cc OHV straight-six engine allied to four-speed manual transmission. Introduced for 1958, the range-topping 541R was reputedly capable of 125mph. Far pricier than the base model (£2,886 7s 0d vs. £2,153 17s 0d), it boasted Laycock overdrive and four-wheel disc brakes as standard. Only in production for three years, just 193 are thought to have been made. Chassis 3674319 was purchased by the late Dr Norman Paskin in February 2016 from an Italian marque enthusiast (and Jensen Owners' Club member) who had treated it to an extensive 'body off' restoration. The engine, gearbox, major units and suspension were all overhauled and bills for a significant parts' value accompany the car. In the process of the restoration much of the chassis was refurbished and the bodywork stripped of paint before being refinished in its original livery of Silver Grey with a Burgundy roof and Burgundy wheels. The interior was fully retrimmed in Red leather too. Prior to his death in April this year, Dr Paskin had reunited the 541R with its original registration number 'WXP 628'. Sadly, he never got to use the car which has been in store at Bicester Heritage since its repatriation. Known to the Jensen Owners' Club for many years prior to its Italian sojourn, chassis 3674319 belonged to several enthusiasts in the South-West including a Dorset-based gentleman who had it from 1982-1996. Missing its spare wheel carrier and lacking a functioning tachometer, 'WXP 628' is rated by the vendor's agent as being in 'good' (electrics, paintwork, interior trim) or 'very good' (engine, gearbox, bodywork) order.
- Imported from California in 2015 - Subject of a detailed restoration supported by a portfolio of photographs - Benefits include many mechanical upgrades improving safety and reliability Nissan Motors' original and arguably most charismatic Z car, the 240 found instant favour among European enthusiasts. Stylish, rugged and great fun to drive, it was regarded by some as a spiritual successor to the Austin-Healey 3000. In common with that British icon it proved pretty handy in rallying too, netting outright victory for Shekhar Mehta on the 1973 East African Safari Rally. The very handsome left-hand drive 1972 example offered here has benefited from an extremely comprehensive restoration, during which we are informed 'everything was either refurbished or replaced'. Equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox, limited slip differential and power steering it also features uprated brakes (vented discs) and suspension. Finished in Green and trimmed in Black, it is currently considered by the vendor to have 'excellent' bodywork, interior trim, six-cylinder engine and transmission, and 'very good' paintwork. It is being offered with photos of the restoration and an MOT valid to March 22nd 2017.
- Two former keepers shown on V5C Registration Document and original registration number - Converted into a road / racing special around 1964 using a Super Sportsman aluminium body, uprated suspension and tuned engine etc - Recent refreshing of the interior trim / tonneau cover plus a bare metal respray A furniture maker by profession, Les Montgomery crafted his first replacement aluminium body for an Austin 7 in 1956. Establishing Super Accessories thereafter, he not only supplied would-be special builders with lightweight coachwork but also stocked a range of tuning goodies (manifolds, cylinder heads and sumps etc). An agent for the Hamblin Cadet, Montgomery subsequently added the Markham Peasey Super Sabre and Jim Shaw-designed Super Sportsman to his burgeoning range. Showing just two previous keepers on its V5C Registration Document and pleasingly retaining its original Norwich-issued 'VG 5263' registration number, this particular Austin 7 is understood to have been converted into a road / racing special around 1964 using a new all-aluminium Super Sportsman body, Super Accessories proprietary suspension, lightened wheels and a tuned engine. The latter features an alloy high compression cylinder head, reworked valves and twin SU carburettors giving a useful increase in power whilst remaining tractable on the road. The interior trim and tonneau cover have been recently refreshed and the bodywork treated to a bare metal respray. The result is a striking looking period competition car which would be seemingly ideal for historic sprints, hill climbs and racing with the 750 Motor Club etc.
- Convincing copy of rare A7 model crafted by its previous keeper - Interior and body's fabric covering entrusted to Aldridge Trimming Ltd - Thorough mechanical overhaul, new 12v wiring, alloy tank, c.£4k in parts Hailing from the late 1920s/early 1930s, the Mulliner Sports featured striking two-seater bodies crafted by Mulliners of Bordesley Green, Birmingham. They were a rare variant of the ubiquitous 7 breed, of which only around a dozen original examples are known to the Austin 7 Mulliner register. '705 YUC' is a smartly-presented evocation of the type, created in recent years by its previous keeper, complete with boat tail and split-vee windscreen. It features a polished alloy bonnet and Red painted and Black fabric-covered body teamed with a relatively luxurious Red leather and wood-trimmed interior - all trimming operations were entrusted to Aldridge Trimming of Wolverhampton. The mechanics of the donor car were treated to a thorough overhaul, during which c.£4,000-worth of new parts were installed, including a 12 volt wiring harness by Vehicle Wiring Services and alloy fuel tank. The vendor currently considers '705 YUC' to be in 'excellent' condition with regard to its engine, gearbox, bodywork, paintwork, electrical equipment and interior trim.
- Purchased in 1982 from the late Ralph Clarke who at the time was the R&D Manager at BMC Blackheath plant outside Capetown - Richard Hulse was a founder member of the Austin-Healey Club in South Africa. Over a 35 year period the Sprite participated in several show days, events and rallies - In 2002 the Sprite was shipped to the UK to participate in the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of Austin-Healey after which the vehicle was returned to South Africa to continue it's club life - Following the death ogf Richard hulse in 2013 the car was shipped to Ireland by his daughter and has been used little since - The car comes with a hard top, a soft top, plus seat cover that tucks in behind the seats. This attractive, apparently low-mileage (an unwarranted 28,500), South African-assembled MKI Sprite features an aftermarket hardtop and forward-opening bonnet, is finished in White over Red, and comes complete with soft top, tonneau and Heritage Certificate. It has remained in the same family ownership for no less than 35 years, having been purchased by founding Austin-Healey South Africa Club member Richard Hulse from the late Ralph Clarke, who at the time was the R&D Manager of BMC's Blackheath plant, Cape Town. During Hulse's tenure the Sprite was a regular competitor in club rallies and show days and contested several Johannesburg to Maputo rallies - it also participated in the 2002 Austin-Healey 50th anniversary celebrations in the UK. At Richard's death in 2013, the car was shipped to his daughter in Ireland, since when it has seen only modest use. She presently considers it to have 'very good' bodywork, paintwork, engine and gearbox and 'good' Red-piped Black interior trim.
