1994 Land Rover Defender 110 Transmission: manualMileage:9082The Land Rover Defender is a vehicle that truly stands out from the crowd. It can trace its roots back as far as the Land Rover Series I, which was released 75 years ago, in 1948. It is known for its capability, ruggedness and its ability to take on any terrain. The Land Rover Defender has been used by farmers, militaries, explorers and adventurers since its inception. It has a unique boxy design, with chunky wheel arches, short overhangs and a raised ground clearance. It is powered by a range of diesel and petrol engines, and is available in a variety of body styles, including a three-door, five-door, and pick-up. It is a vehicle that has been designed to take on any terrain and any challenge, but is just as comfortable being used as a daily driver or summer toy. This particular Defender has covered just over 9,000 miles since a comprehensive restoration, which included a fully galvanised chassis and bulkhead, high quality re-spray in Nash Yellow, as well as both axles and the gearbox refurbished. This Defender has eight seats in total, with the six in the rear being foldable, so it will be the perfect family and friend's classic this summer.  The whole roof front to rear, is foldable canvas, which makes this Defender quite unique. Ready to be enjoyed right away, and sure to turn heads wherever it goes.Interested parties should note that this vehicle is not currently sold with a V5 registration document. However, one has been applied for by the vendor with the DVLA and should arrive in due course.

Lot 130

1980 Land Rover Series III 88€ Transmission: manualMileage:56086Land Rovers were inspired by the US-built Willys Jeep immediately after the war and by 1992, Land Rover claimed that 70% of all the vehicles they had ever built were still in use. Before the war, Rover had produced luxury cars which ceased to be in demand in the immediate post-war period and raw materials were strictly rationed to those companies' building construction or industrial equipment. Rover's original factory in Coventry had also been bombed, forcing the company to move into a huge factory it had built in Solihull to construct aircraft. The Series III is the most common vehicle, with 440,000 of the type built from 1971 to 1985. The headlights were moved to the wings and the traditional metal grille featured on its predecessor, was replaced with a plastic one. The production run for the Series III was from 1971 through to 1985 and during this cycle (1976) the 1,000,000th Land Rover rolled off the production line. The Series III saw many changes in the later part of its life as Land Rover updated the design to meet increased competition. This lovely example is presented in blue/cream with a black interior. Its previous owners owned it jointly for 24 years and one of them was an engineer, who maintained it whilst in their ownership. Everything on the car is original apart from the wheels. The present owner however has spent the last seven months restoring it which has included brakes, pipes, paint inside and out etc. The result is clear to see and is now resplendent and ready to be used as it was originally intended. This wonderful British classic 4x4 is very collectable and is reasonably priced.

Lot 139

1997 Mini 1997 Mini Cooper 35 Limited Edition Transmission: manualMileage:65360The launch of the original Mini in 1959 created a sensation. The compact design and innovation was a real masterpiece of engineering and provided a spacious interior and exceptional roadholding. Fast forward a few years and the space in the market for a performance related version was noticed and gave birth to the Mini Cooper. This new model featured a more powerful engine and improved handling. It became an immediate success and went on to achieve greatness. Fast forward 35 years, and the Rover group thought it would be a good idea to celebrate this little motoring icon, and the Mini Cooper 35 was born. The immediate interest was encouraging and when it was announced that it would be limited to a production run of 200 units for the UK, and 200 for Japan, the response was amazing. All 200 were finished in Almond Green with a white roof and luxurious porcelain green leather with a dashboard finished in walnut. Powered by a 1275cc fuel injected engine mated to a 4 speed manual gearbox. This example presents in outstanding condition. The paintwork is in good order and the leather, woodwork and carpets are unmarked. It is clear to see that this car has been cherished by its owner over the last 10 years. We are also informed that this Mini is a joy to drive. Presented to auction with a V5c registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until October 2023 this rare and desirable Mini is offered without reserve.

Lot 153

1983 Austin Metro Vanden Plas Transmission: manualMileage:19750The Metro is a supermini car, later, a city car that was produced by British Leyland and later, the Rover Group from 1980 to 1998. It was launched in 1980 as the Austin Mini Metro. It was intended to complement and eventually replace the Mini and was developed under the codename LC8. The Metro was named by What Car magazine as 'Car of The Year' 1983 as an MG, and again as the Rover Metro in 1991. During its 18-year lifespan the Metro wore many names; Austin Metro, MG Metro and Rover Metro. It was rebadged as the Rover 100 series in December 1994.First registered on 3rd March 1983 and having just celebrated its 40th birthday, this incredible time warp example has covered a mere 19,750 miles from new. Having been part of the James Hull collection, our vendor purchased the car due to the unique nature of the Vanden Plas specification which brought a plush luxury finish to what is usually a basic small family hatchback, much like the Radford minis. The 'Raschelle' woven velvet upholstery is in incredible condition and all plastics are unsurprisingly as new, the car on the whole feels every bit of its low mileage and collector status. Powered by the 'A' series 1275cc 60bhp engine with a four-speed all-synchromesh manual gearbox, this example is a real delight and no slouch either!Guide Price £5,000 - £7,000

Lot 157

1992 Rover Mini Cooper Transmission: manualMileage:53701John Cooper was well known for his involvement, along with his father Charles, in developing the post-war, rear engine, single seater 500cc race cars that ran amok and beat the larger front engine cars of the period. John was also later renowned for his development of the iconic Mini with the Mini Coopers cleaning up in high profile race and rally events in the 1960s and beyond. This stunning extensively restored Rover Mini Cooper is offered from private ownership with just over 53,000 miles from new. The car is presented in Storm Grey with contrasting black and red trim with optional sunroof. The accompanying history file is equally as impressive showing no breaks in the lifespan of this little Cooper and includes every MoT test certificate from new and the original sale receipt along with the original book packs. Having been garaged since its full restoration, this example is offered with an MoT test certificate valid until 13th December. This is truly a stunning example suitable to use as a daily driver or investment.

Lot 167

1988 Land Rover Defender 110 Transmission: manualMileage:20The original Land Rover Series began production in Solihull in 1948 and until its decades-long production run ended in 2016, more than two million Defenders were produced, becoming a British automotive icon. Since production ceased, the revered model has been in increased demand from both collectors and those willing to use this tough, utilitarian vehicle in the way it was designed for. It was only in 1989, following the introduction of the all-new Land Rover Discovery, that the Defender received its own name. This was not only a marketing exercise; the new Defender received a raft of upgrades, along with a new turbo diesel engine, which brought useful increases in power, torque, and fuel economy when compared with the old, normally aspirated diesel it was based on. Often boasting large 'Defender' logos, the Land Rover went through a continuous process of development, gaining disc brakes and power-assisted steering as standard during the 1990s, together with a host of other improvements.Originally registered on 1st August 1988 this is no ordinary Land Rover. This Defender has had a nut and bolt restoration in every sense of the word. Restomod is probably the best way to describe this Double cab pick-up as it has been restored to a magnificent standard and has had a few modifications carried out along the way. After purchasing the vehicle, the vendor stripped it back to nothing, this involved removing the body, engine, gearbox and axles. The chassis showed signs of corrosion so a new galvanised one was fitted, a new bulkhead was fitted at the same time. The engine was rebuilt by respected V8 engine rebuilder John Eales, the capacity was increased to 4.6 litres and output increased to a more than adequate 260 BHP. The transfer gearbox was rebuilt as were the differentials. The brakes were overhauled and upgraded as was the suspension, with anti-roll bars fitted front and rear. The bodywork was taken care of and the car has been repainted to a magnificent standard in Aintree Green. Originally a standard 110, the rear has been cut-off to make it a Double cab pick-up, strength was added by fitting a Land Rover roll-bar. The interior has been trimmed in tan leather and again this has been carried out to an exemplary standard, even the dashboard has been trimmed in leather. The loadspace area has been fitted with four inward facing seats making this effectively a ten-seater Land Rover. All of the ancillaries have been replaced, wheels, tyres, rear soft top, badges, in addition to central locking and rear camera. To build such a vehicle in this manner and to this standard would be in excess of £100,000. The quality of this outstanding vehicle has to be seen to be appreciated, viewing is highly recommended. Classic Defenders are becoming increasingly rare and popular, this 35 year old vehicle is in better condition than when it originally left Lode Lane.

Lot 173

1998 Land Rover Defender 90 V8 50th Anniversary Edition Transmission: automaticMileage:47000The Land Rover Defender was launched in 1948 and, incredibly, production only finished in January 2016 after a continuous run of 67 years. Outwardly, there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from the Series III Land Rover. A full-length bonnet, revised grille, plus the fitting of wheel arch extensions to cover wider-track axles are the most noticeable changes. Internally, coil springs offered a more comfortable ride and a permanent four-wheel drive system derived from the Range Rover featuring a two-speed transfer gearbox with a lockable centre differential. A modernised interior and a new series of progressively more powerful and modern engine characterised things under the skin. This wonderful 50th Anniversary Edition was supplied new in September 1998, to its first owner who covered a mere 41,000 miles and the second owner has only added another 6,000 miles to that total! All the vehicle's services are recorded in the handbook, plus other invoices for occasional other works that have been carried out. Only 385 of these limited edition 50th Anniversary models were made for the U.K. and this particular Land Rover is original with no modifications or restoration being carried out. Presented in Atlantis Blue with grey cloth interior and powered by the smooth V8 engine which is mated to an automatic gearbox. This Land Rover is certainly desirable and extremely useable with low mileage as a bonus. A great utility vehicle in good condition.

Lot 223

1999 Land Rover Defender 90 50th Anniversary Edition (2.8 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:269000The Land Rover Defender was launched in 1948 and, incredibly, production only finished in January 2016 after a continuous run of 67 years. This very rare right hand drive 50th Anniversary Edition was factory built in South Africa in 1999, there is a letter from Land Rover SA in history file confirming such, and was fitted with a BMW 2.8i six cylinder engine mated to a manual gearbox, which is superb according to the vendor. This vehicle was imported into the UK in 2016 and was subsequently restored. Only 26 of these limited edition 50th Anniversary models were made for South Africa and we understand that very few can be found in the UK. This is a wonderful edition with the smooth, powerful and reliable BMW engine, presented in its original colour combination of blue with black interior. A truly great workhorse ready to be used as it was built for.

Lot 228

1949 Land Rover Series I 80€ Transmission: manualMileage:196The Land Rover Series I is an iconic off-road vehicle that was first introduced in 1948. It was designed by Maurice Wilks, the chief designer of the Rover car company, who was inspired by the World War II Willys Jeep. The Series I was built with simplicity and functionality in mind, which made it a reliable and versatile workhorse in rural areas and on rough terrain. The Land Rover Series I was available in three body styles: a soft top, a hardtop, and a pick-up truck. It was powered by a 1.6 litre petrol engine which produced 50 horsepower, which may not sound like much by today's standards, but it was more than enough to get the Series I through tough terrain. The Series I was not only popular in rural areas but also gained popularity in the military and among explorers. Its ruggedness, durability, and off-road capabilities made it the perfect vehicle for expeditions to remote areas. Today, the Land Rover Series I is a collector's item, and enthusiasts continue to appreciate its unique design and impressive capabilities. This particular example is an early 'lights behind grille' example and is presented in the lesser seen hue of Sage Green. Sage Green was the standard colour for early Land Rover's, until the first military orders came in late 1949, which meant the standard colour became the far more commonly seen Bronze Green. This example was built on 11th May 1949 and was shipped to Champion Motorcars, Adelaide, Australia. It then spent the vast majority of its life in the wonderful dry climate of Coober Pedy, Southern Australia, known for its opal mining, which would have no doubt meant the chassis and body remained in fantastic condition.A full restoration took place in 2018 and has been completed to an exceedingly high standard in Australia. This Land Rover could easily pass as a two or three year old car, it doesn't look at all like the 74 year old vehicle it is. The brakes have recently been overhauled and this Series I is ready to take on the show scene this summer.

Lot 232

1953 Land Rover Series I 80€ SWB Transmission: manualMileage:7983In the aftermath of the Second World War, Rover's chief engineer Maurice Wilks used a 'demobbed' Willys Jeep around his farm in Anglesey and was impressed with its abilities. Eventually, it wore out and he was keen to replace it with a British vehicle, however, nothing remotely similar was available. Coincidentally, his brother Spencer, who was Managing Director at Rover, had reached the same conclusion as he struggled to get his Rover 10 to reach the more inaccessible parts of his estate on Islay. This is where `The Best 4x4 by Far' started - a utility vehicle devised in 1947, they would have no idea that Maurice's resulting design would become an icon and launch a whole new industry sector. The vehicle appeared as the 'Land Rover' in 1948 and proved so popular with the military and the farming fraternity that demand massively outstripped supply. When new in 1953 this left hand drive Series I Land Rover short wheelbase, was sent CKD (completely knocked down) to Cyprus in the Mediterranean. When it arrived, it was unpacked, assembled and had a timber pick-up section fitted. According to the Land Rover records, this car was sold to a private person. Finished in Limestone with dark green triple front seat, it has a number of features including bonnet mounted spare wheel front and rear, wing mounted water/petrol Jerry cans, a shovel mounted on the driver's side front wing and a sturdy tow rope on the rear. This Land Rover is UK registered and is supplied with a V5C registration document. Its simple design and ruggedness are still admired by many and it remains a symbol of British engineering excellence. Whether you are an off-road adventurer, a farmer, or simply a fan of classic cars, the early Land Rover 80 SWB is a vehicle that deserves recognition and respect.

Lot 251

2002 MG F Transmission: manualMileage:87000The MG F was the first new model designed as an MG since the MGB that was produced from 1962 to 1980. It was initially designed by the Rover Group during the period it was owned by British Aerospace and was brought to market after the business had been sold to the German car manufacturer BMW. It was powered by a 1.8 Litre K-Series 16-valve engine, the basic having 118 bhp while the more powerful VVC (variable valve control) had 143 bhp. Steve Harper of MGA Developments produced the initial design concept in January 1991 having been inspired by the Jaguar XJR-15 and the Ferrari 250LM, before Rover's in house design team refined the concept under the leadership of Gerry McGovern. An interesting feature of the F was its Hydragas suspension, a system employing interconnected fluid and gas displacers which provided a surprisingly compliant ride, but which could be tuned to provide excellent handling characteristics.Originally registered on 27th November 2002, this MG F is presented in Oxford Blue with a black interior and has a white hardtop. The knowledgeable vendor has recently fitted a new head gasket to the car and describes the car as driving with no known faults. It has electric windows and is powered by the potent 1.8 litre engine mated to a five-speed gearbox, providing lively performance on the open roads. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate, this MG F is offered without reserve and is an ideal way to experience open top motoring.

Lot 252

1990 Rover Mini 'Checkmate' Transmission: manualMileage:72054Special editions usually make sense. They tend to get lots of extra kit and represent excellent value for money. Yet while the Checkmate is distinctive and offers lots more equipment than the standard Cooper S, it's pricey. Three fully loaded special-edition cars have arrived. The Checkmate, The Flame Red and The Racing Green. Overall, they have focused on improving the Mini's aesthetics rather than its performance. Outside, it gets the specialist chequered stickers and new 17€ alloys wheels.Step inside and, most noticeable is the new upholstery. Good quality red leather throughout with, in this instance, a wood and carbon fibre effect dashboard and tilting sunroof. Other extras over the standard car include air-conditioning, front rally-style foglights and upgraded Xenon headlamps and a limited slip differential to help put the supercharged 1.6's 170bhp on to the road. An aftermarket Goodman's stereo and CD player can also be found including twin 6€x 9€ JVC speakers mounted to the rear parcel shelf. It should be noted that whilst Minis in general are commonplace, these limited editions are relatively rare and buyers will be investing in exclusivity.

Lot 108

1997 Rover Mini Cooper Transmission: manualMileage:68600The Mini was manufactured by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 until 2000. The original Mini is considered a British icon of the 1960's and its space-saving front-wheel drive layout allowed 80% of the car's floorpan to be used for passengers and luggage, influencing a generation of car makers. In 1999, the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th century behind the Ford Model T.This Mini Cooper was originally registered on 10th December 1997 and is finished in metallic purple with John Cooper Works decals and racing stripes. Both the interior and exterior are presented in good order having been well cared for in the current vendors ownership. Acquired by our vendor in 2010 the Mini has been dry stored since and has been treated to various maintenance work. A new ECU was fitted to the car, the sills were restored, the heater matrix was replaced and in 2014 the engine was rebuilt and upgraded to 1350cc. The vendor reports that the Mini runs very well and is offered with a sizeable history file including various sundry bills, invoices of maintenance work, old MoT test certificates, the current UK registration document and a MoT valid until December 2023. Also included in the sale is a new replacement wooden dashboard. Offered for sale without reserve, this is an ideal entry into classic car motoring at a relatively modest outlay.
