A low-mileage Defender 90 with a desirable specification, tastefully presented and benefitting from superb upgrades by Coventry-based JE Motor Works.By the late 1990s, Land Rover had begun to realise that most Range Rovers rarely saw turf, and fuel efficiency was at the forefront of the suburban driver’s mind, so development of a more refined diesel engine for the Range Rover and Discovery began in earnest. Ironically, during this time, the V8 Defender had begun to appeal to the 'lifestyle' end of the market and a number of limited-edition cars were developed and marketed by the company, proving popular for occasional use in a similar way to a classic car. Over the past decade, this has led to a new sub-market for upgraded, used Land Rovers with leather interiors and more powerful engines, and a number of small companies have sprung up to fulfil this need.J E Motor Works of Coventry are one of those companies skilled in developing bespoke products for Land Rover Defenders but they are not new arrivals in this area having built a 50-year reputation for engineering excellence when it comes to all things Land Rover. Known in the past for building unburstable competition engines for Paris-Dakar entrants, their business these days is equally well known for an extensive range of styling and performance enhancements for LR’s ubiquitous Defender.During 2016, our vendor was keen to purchase a new Defender 90, but it appears that there was a two-year waiting list at the time. One dealer that he spoke to suggested that he had a chat with JE Motor Works as they had been buying a few for stock. Happily they had exactly what he wanted in Santorini Black and, after what we imagine must have been a good afternoon going through their upgrades option list, a deal was struck and JEM commenced work on our vendor's new car. It was ready for collection on 22nd December 2016, just in time for Christmas, and the J E Motorworks invoices in the history file indicate that well in excess of £20,000 was invested with JEM, in addition to the cost of the car.A new Defender in Santorini Black was pretty cool anyway so external changes were limited to replacing the original alloys with 18'' cream-painted JE D-type alloys wrapped in Hankook tyres whilst also adding bespoke JEM side steps. The factory interior was upgraded with bespoke British craftsmanship by Ruskin Design Interiors which included heated black leather front seats enhanced by bright red stitching and Range Rover Sport headrests, extra leg-room rails, a ‘Startech’ leather steering wheel, the dash including speedo, passenger cover, grab handle and under the speedo panel re-trimmed in leather and Alcantara, and all embossed with the Ruskin logo. A black Alcantara headlining and 100% wool luxury carpets finish off a very impressive interior. From the invoice in the car’s history file, it appears this work came to just short of £4,500.The aesthetics weren’t the only thing JE Engineering worked their magic on, with a power increase to the factory 2.2-litre diesel inline-four, now producing around 195bhp (Puma Tune+ £1,069) coupled to an automatic 6-speed gear box. (£8,230). Whilst the 'JE SuperSport Suspension Pack' balanced softer springs with stiffer anti-roll bars transforming daily usability and offering an excellent ride and handling without making the rear too stiff. Underneath, the car was undersealed with professionally applied Waxoyl treatment ensuring long-term corrosion protection. The original factory specification which remains includes a heated rear windscreen, electric windows, rear privacy glass, rear step, rear Land Rover mud flaps, air conditioning and an after-market Alpine CD-player added with Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port. The history file incudes original handbooks, service history records, invoices for the upgrades from J.E. Engineering, the V5C and an advisory-free MOT valid until 21st December 2023. A rare opportunity to purchase a highly topical, good looking, low-mileage Defender, professionally upgraded by acknowledged marque experts.SpecificationMake: LAND ROVERModel: DEFENDER 90Year: 2015Chassis Number: SALLDWBP7GA479445Registration Number: VO65 LFPTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: 150709183834DT224 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 35300 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

.**The registration number in the catalogue and photos (SVX 1) is incorrect. It is X1 SVX. This is not included in the sale but is available for purchase by separate negotiation. If it is not purchased the vendor will apply for a new V5**One owner and just 235 recorded miles. One of just 300 examples to be built, with only 90 produced for the home market. In November 2008, Land Rover first announced its limited-edition Defender SVX. Built to celebrate the British marque’s 60th anniversary, the Defender SVX was available in both 90 soft-top and 90 station wagon versions. This is one of 300 examples built worldwide, and only 90 cars in total came to the UK. The SVX shares its mechanical layout with the standard Defender, including the same recently-revised (as of 2008) 2.4-litre four-cylinder Ford turbodiesel engine. Offered exclusively in metallic black paintwork, the SVX featured subtle satin-black graphics, special badging, silver finish for the tubular side-steps, the front grille and new clear-lens headlamps. Additionally, all SVX models were equipped with new five-spoke alloy wheels, a reinforced aluminium front under-shield and clear LED rear lights. On the inside, the SVX boasted custom-designed Recaro front seats, an iPod cradle and Garmin satellite navigation, alloy gear knobs, a new audio system, and an individually numbered plaque. It was flatter-riding than any previous Defender courtesy of some subtle, SVX-only improvements to the damping, making it much more comfortable.Build number #167, offered here, was supplied new by Taunton Land Rover on 31st October 2008 and has subsequently formed part of a Land Rover enthusiast's private Collection, accumulating just 235 miles since. Elegantly-presented in a striking Santorini Black finish, this Defender 90 SVX Soft Top has been fitted with a bespoke roll cage in the interests of safetyWell maintained and obviously cherished, this exceptional low-mileage Defender 90 SVX is supplied with its original SVX-embossed book pack and Owners Manuals,  a excellent opportunity for enthusiasts and collectors alike. Please note that registration number shown - SVX 1 - is available for a separate negotiation after the sale.SpecificationMake: LAND ROVERModel: DEFENDERYear: 2008Chassis Number: SALLDVAS79A771509Registration Number: SVX 1Transmission: ManualEngine Number: 080917031543244DT Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 235 MilesClick here for more details and images

Lot 741

A highly original, fully matching numbers Series 2 with low-mileage, offered along with a professional inspection and health check. Fully recommissioned, pin-sharp and absolutely on-the-button.Offered here is a US-supplied, left-hand drive Jaguar E-Type Series 2 Open Two-Seater presenting in remarkable, highly original condition. Finished in a beautiful period shade of Ascot Fawn with a Tan leather interior and matching hood, today the odometer shows just 36,660 miles which we understand is from new. The car remains in lovely, factory original condition and is supplied with an Inspection Report which confirms that all the numbers match its Heritage Certificate. The report has been prepared by our vendor, an ex-Jaguar Land Rover Classic Manager, whose most recent role was the Leading Engineer on the 'E-Type reborn' project and certainly knows his E-Types. His detailed report notes that the body appears to be completely original, with no evidence of metal repair showing and factory welding, sealing and metal features all visible. The interior is exceptionally well-preserved including the seats that have been fitted with covers from new. The boot area is also highly original, with a virtually unused original tool kit and jack assembly.Mechanically, the measured engine performance indicators are strong, as recorded in the health check, including excellent oil pressure and good compressions. The engine fires on-the-button and sounds very healthy, on test the gearbox was tight and accurate and overall, the car performed extremely well. The Jaguar was imported into the UK in 2022 after 30-years in long-term storage and a full mechanical recommission was commenced. This involved end-to-end servicing and completely replacing the brake and clutch actuation system, pipes and reservoirs etc. Fully reconditioned triple SU carburettors were fitted with a new intake manifold and filters etc. and the whole ignition and fuel supply system was replaced with robust electronic ignition, a new fuel pump, all new cooling hoses, thermostat and a reconditioned alternator. The front suspension and steering were overhauled and new Avon tyres fitted. All parts used were reconditioned originals except for the original Champion plug caps which were retained. The car's history file includes paperwork from the US supporting the mileage, the aforementioned condition report and health check, its current V5C-UK registration paperwork ready for transfer or export, an MOT Certificate valid until December 2023, the Jaguar Heritage Certificate and numerous invoices for parts and fittings etc. Here we have a true reference car, one of the most iconic British sports cars ever produced in remarkably well-preserved condition. With the cost of restoration now marching past £100,000, thousands of man-hours and still very few workshops capable of delivering a final product this close to perfect, this impressive example represents superb value at this very sensible guide – and they’re only original once.SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: E-TYPEYear: 1969Chassis Number: 1R11853Registration Number: GAM 385JTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 36660 MilesMake: LHDInterior Colour: Tan LeatherClick here for more details and images

The latter endowed the Land Rover with decent performance by Land Rover standards, with Motor magazine recording a 0-60mph time of 14.7 seconds and a top speed of 90 mph.For the 90/110s more expensive and luxurious cousin, the Range Rover, performance specialists, Overfinch, who were then based in Hampshire, had been making a name for themselves by fitting them out with 5.7-litre Chevrolet small-block V8 engines, and for adding appropriate suspension, steering and braking improvements – obviously for customers with sufficiently large enough wallets, which often went hand-in-hand with Range Rover ownership – but not always. In 1988, step-forward a Hastings-based customer who had some very specific requirements for his Land Rover; he initially bought a new V8 110 Pick-Up, but had it immediately upgraded by JE Engineering of Coventry, who fitted it with a 4.2-litre 250bhp JE ‘Dakar’ engine, but this soon became ‘not enough’. So, he approached Overfinch to obtain a quotation for the supply and fitting of a ‘570S’ conversion – giving 280bhp at 5,000rpm and 320lb/ft of torque at 2,500rpm. The 570S conversion was of course originally designed for Range Rovers, and Overfinch had never tackled a 110 before. Our 110 owner went for it - engine, suspension, brakes and wheels/tyres (and later the gearbox – to a GM700 automatic unit) were all upgraded, costing circa £12,000 plus VAT, the cost of the 110 a year or so earlier! In a photo attached you can see the 110 being prepared in the Overfinch workshops.Overfinch baptised the finished vehicle '570E' (‘E’ in homage to the E-Type sportscar, of similar performance), and provided it with a discreet tailgate decal to that effect. Tested by Autocar & Motor magazine in 1989, it achieved an eight second 0-60mph time, matched by a standing-quarter time of 16.0 seconds! The mighty 570E continued to surprise and delight throughout the 1990s and 2000s, before falling on harder times, eventually being fully recommissioned in 2000 by the then-owner, before becoming the property of our vendor, the owner of a very well-respected business specialising in the restoration and maintenance of classic Land Rover/Range Rover. He was naturally intrigued by the 570E, as it was quite ‘legendary’ in his world, having owned all sorts of rare and more out-there examples of the marque. He has loved looking after the 570E, driving it and being its custodian for a good few years. It has wanted for nothing in its time with him, and is ready for new adventures. It does have some patina, it’s a Land Rover after all, but is mechanically and structurally very sound. To quote Land Rover Enthusiast magazine - the full article documenting the 570E story is attached in photos - of June 2001, 'There was only ever one genuine Overfinch 570E. 'E273 WKP'  is on chassis number SALLDHAV7BA-299150 and it was registered on February 12th, 1988'.SpecificationMake: LAND ROVERModel: 110 OVERFINCH 570E PICK-UPYear: 1988Chassis Number: SALLDHAV7BA299150Registration Number: E273 WKPTransmission: Auto Engine Number: MO8249VP Drive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 700

One of just 200 examples, fabulously presented and perhaps the lowest-mileage CSK on the market. To mark the huge success and the 20th Anniversary of the model, Land Rover, in their September 1990 press release, hailed the Range Rover CSK as the 'Ultimate two-door Range Rover'. Named in honour of Charles Spencer King, the man who designed the original Range Rover, the CSK was intended primarily to publicise the new anti-roll suspension and was promoted as a sportier Range Rover with only 200 numbered examples produced. This special, UK-only, Range Rover featured a number of modifications improving both performance and passenger comfort, and was the fastest production Range Rover ever built at that time, with a chipped version of the 3.9-litre V8 engine developing 185bhp. The increase in performance is complemented by improved handling at high speeds, and Land Rover had introduced front and rear anti-roll bars and sports dampers to give a smoother, more comfortable ride on normal roads.Finished exclusively in Beluga Black with chrome bumpers, they featured silver pinstripe coach lines with discrete CSK logos positioned on both front wings and one on the lower tailgate. The interior is pure Range Rover with contrasting Sorrel leather trim and the American Walnut fascia, and door inserts are exclusive to this model. Priced at £28,995 for a manual, the automatic CSK was more expensive at £30,319.22. The CSK was an instant hit, aimed as it was at the emerging sportier Range Rover owner, and was perhaps the first of its kind, a retro-inspired new car. Whilst some CSKs were used on turf, the vast majority were viewed as comfortable motorway cruisers, as most Range Rovers are so used today, and the few CSKs that are seen in today’s market have over 100,000 miles on the odometer and are usually heavily restored. Seen as a comfortable luxury car without the ostentation of a Rolls or Bentley, a number of CSKs naturally found their way to the leafy residential roads of the better parts of 1990s London, as this fabulous car, No. 56, did when new. First registered to a Mr C Geoff-Saurau of Earls Court, South West London on 12th August 1991. Please note, that it was our vendor’s intention to service the CSK at his local Land Rover main dealer but was informed, bafflingly, that they no longer serviced Range Rovers built before 2007, and will therefore have the CSK serviced at a British Heritage specialist. The service book has the following record:Page 1 PDI at Ian Allan Motors Land Rover, Virginia Waters, SurreyPage 2 H.R.
