A model of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary tanker 'Blue Rover', pennant number A270, of glass reinforced plastic and plasticard construction, the superstructure removeable for motorized operation, painted grey with black and red bands to the lower hull, 146cm long. Note: The Blue Rover was commissioned in 1970, and was built by Swan Hunter. She was designed to supply frigates and small groups of warships with fuel and lubricants and had a diesel capacity of approximately 22,000 cubic metres, although she could also carry limited supplies of fresh water, dry stores, refrigerated food and munitions, all of which could be transferred directly via a pair of replenishment rigs forward of the main superstructure. She saw service in the Falkland Islands during the conflict of 1982 but was subsequently sold to Portugal, in 1993, and renamed 'Berrio'.
