A 1974 Land Rover Series III military lightweight 1/2 ton utility truck, registration number HHO 198S, chassis number 95102896A, engine number 95107825A, green. The lightweight or Airportable as it was known was employed by the armed forces, as the name would imply, because it was capable of being airlifted by both helicopter and cargo aircraft. The modifications to the bodywork and chassis enabled the Land Rover to be packed onto a pallet for transportation. This petrol engined lightweight was decommissioned from the army in 1978 and was registered for civilian use. Having been recently sympathetically restored by a garage proprietor?s son, work included the canvas tilt being renewed with a correct military specification item, the bodywork repainted and the wheels replaced with oversized steel aftermarket items fitted with BP Goodrich tyres. This relatively rare version of the classic Series Land Rover will be offered for sale with a history file containing copies of the military paperwork, receipts and some previous MOTs. A 1984 Dutton V8 hot rod inspired kit car, registration number Q73 JDV, black. Our vendor has taken inspiration from the 1920s and 30s American hot rods to create his interpretation of a traditional T-Bucket style car. The Dutton was totally remodelled and rebuilt in 2017, with a T-Bucket style body with louvred bonnet and cycle wings front and rear. The business like no frills interior has an aluminium dashboard and centre console, red upholstery and a steel roll hoop. Power is supplied by a Rover SD1 V8 driving thought a five speed manual gearbox. Since completing the build our engineer vendor has enjoyed using the car to attend local classic car events where it has been admired. This five speed manual diesel example is fitted with all the standard equipment for the model including the distinctive roll bar and roof rack with spotlights, air conditioning, leather seats and alloy wheels, as well as a long list of extras which include a Husky Superwinch, front bumper custom A bar, heated front screen, tinted side and rear glass, modified Nato hitch and swing away spare wheel carrier. Two ALS to a Dr. Kennedy, discussing the state of the world, the first dated 18.iii.42, 2 pp with covering note, the second dated 24.1.1949, 2 pp (single sheet), with a printed Christmas poem signed Roddy the Rover (de Blacam's newspaper pseudonym) and an unrelated examination paper (1924). The first letter discusses a historical affair in Leitrim [possibly the shooting of Lord Leitrim], which he did not discuss more fully in his column, 'because we have a wrong-headed element which argues from the past that the law can be taken into private hands', etc. The second notes that 'it has fallen to the Republic of Ireland to be the first State to protest against the Hungarian terror'.As a collection, w.a.f.
