Lot 410

1973 Rover P5B, 3,528cc. Registration number NCX 10M (see text). Chassis number 84010276D. Engine number unknown. Intended to compete with Jaguar's MkVII in the luxury saloon market, the Rover P5 3-Litre arrived in 1958. The first unitary construction Rover, the P5 used a bored-out version of the firm's familiar inlet-over-exhaust six-cylinder engine. Power output initially was 115bhp, increasing to 134bhp later, but for Rover's established clientele, most notably the Civil Service which bought hundreds, the car's quietness, refinement and luxurious, 'gentlemen's club' interior were of far greater importance. Announced for 1965, the ultimate MkIII version added power-assisted steering and reclining seats to the MkII-introduced improvements that included the up-rated engine, lowered suspension and improved gear-change. Introduced in 1967, the V8-engined P5B was considerably quicker than its six-cylinder predecessor, the V8's 140-plus horsepower boosting top speed to 110mph and chopping 7 seconds off the 0-60mph time. Automatic transmission and power-assisted steering were standard features of a car that combined much improved performance with the luxury and refinement customers had long since come to expect in a Rover. The stylish low-roofline Coupé version proved almost as popular as the saloon and today is regarded as the most collectible of the 3-Litre/3.5-series Rovers. NCX is recorded with DVLA as a 1973 model that was last taxed in 1990. When viewed it was in the garden under a tarpaulin and probably has been there for many years in our deceased owners collection. There is no paperwork or keys with this vehicle.

Lot 429

1995 Land Rover Range Rover (P38) 2.5DSE. Registration number N980 KRH. Chassis number SALLPAMW7MA315950. Engine number unknown. After 25 years from the introduction of the first-generation Range Rover, the second-generation Range Rover, the P38, was introduced for the 1995 model year with an updated version of the Rover V8 engines. There was also the option of a 2.5 litre, BMW, six-cylinder, turbo-diesel. This was a result of BMW's subsequent ownership of the Rover Group and hence the Land Rover brand. The new model offered more equipment and premium trims, positioning the vehicle above the Land Rover Discovery to face the increased competition in the SUV marketplace. This model was the last to feature the Rover V8 and interior leather supplied by Connolly and the first model to feature satellite navigation as an option.KRH is an ideal candidate to turn into an offroad toy with solid BMW diesel engine that has only done some 148,000 miles. Its MOT expired in 2021.Sold with the V5C and a copy of its MOT history.

Lot 430

1998 Rover Metro 100 Ascot SE diesel, 1,527cc. Registration number R759 SVN. Chassis number SAXXPFNBDBD151792. Engine number 10FY6C1 404835.The 1990 Rover Metro was announced to the world with one simple word: 'Metromorphosis'. It might have looked like the 1980 original, but thanks to all new K-Series engines under the bonnet and intelligent suspension modifications which gave excellent ride quality, the Metro emerged as a class-leading supermini. To drive, it really was a whole new ball game, with sweet spinning engines, supple ride and Rover 200 seats up front with a re-angled steering column for a big car driving position. In January 1995, the Metro was given its final facelift as the Rover 100. The Ascot was one of the special editions at the end of the Metro/100 line and used a Peugeot diesel engine. This low owner and low mileage example, 10,170 has lead a gentle life and is presented in good overall condition. Sold with the V5C, and a copy of its MOT history back to 2006 to back this current mileage. Its last MOT expired in September 2021.

1997 Rover Mini CooperReg. no. R448 EBUChassis no. SAXXNNAZEWEngine no. 12A2LK70368578Following the famous success of the original 1961-1971 Mini Coopers, Rover decided to reintroduce Cooper-branded Minis for 1991. These cars would last in production until the final end of the Mini in 2000. In 1997, they were upgraded with a multi-point fuel-injected version of the 1275cc a-series engine, which brought the car into line with the latest emissions standards. Meanwhile, an airbag was standard for the driver – another concession that the car had to make to the modern world. However, at heart the Mini remained the same car it had been when launched in 1959, and still provided the unparalleled driving experience of the early cars. This late Cooper was purchased by the vendor in Bradford on Avon on the 6th of May 2005; for the years since then, it has been cherished and lovingly maintained and serviced by the vendor and taken to many Mini shows. The mileage is just under 41,000; during the vendor’s ownership it has been used as a car for fun and shows, hence the low mileage. Parts that have needed replacing have been, and the car is in good all-round condition. There are a few rust spots as is common with Minis, but these have been touched up as part of the maintenance. The SRS airbag and radio both need electrical attention, but the car is in overall good running order, with an MOT until October 2022. Only for sale due to advancing years of the owners, this Mini comes with various bills and a current V5C.

Lot 608

1987 TVR 350iReg. no. FXI 350Chassis no. SA9DH35P8HB019122Engine no. 37A00452CIn 1982, TVR – then recently bought by Peter Wheeler – addressed their new owner’s desire for a more powerful model by introducing the Rover V8-powered 350i. This car was based on the similarly wedge-shaped but V6-powered Tasmin 280i, and as with all TVRs, it featured a tubular spaceframe steel chassis. Also common to other TVRs, the running gear, electrical parts and many trim pieces were sourced from a variety of mainstream manufacturers. The steering and front suspension were Ford-sourced; the rear axle Jaguar; the five-speed gearbox Rover. The end result, however, was a uniquely TVR product; an exciting, lightweight sports car. With 190bhp now on tap from the Rover SD1-sourced engine – rising to 197bhp in 1985 – the 350i was a very fast car for the time, with 60 arriving in around 6.5 seconds, and a top speed of almost 140mph. The interior was surprisingly luxurious, with a polished wooden dashboard and comfortable seats, and this coupled to the smooth, torquey engine meant the new TVR was not a tiring car to drive at all. Available in both convertible and coupe forms, the convertible was the more popular model, with the folding hood being well-engineered and easy to raise and lower. In addition, it was found that there was minimal buffeting of the fabric roof even at high speed. 949 350is were built before the end of production in 1989, while the car’s underpinnings lived on in some of TVR’s models of the following decade. This 1987 350i is in good all-round condition but requires some further recommissioning before much use. It was purchased last year by the vendor as a non-runner, before which it had not been used much, covering less than 300 miles since 2012. Now running and driving, more fettling is needed to further improve the car. It benefitted from a full brake rebuild at 82,264 miles; it is now at 83,000. It has also had new plug leads and distributor cap, the starter motor has been replaced, and a new battery fitted. It has also been fitted with a stainless exhaust system. This distinctive 1980s ‘wedge’ comes with MOTs dating back to 1991, plus some bills and a V5C.
