Lot 1006

1986 Land Rover Series IIA Lightweight ex-Army, Registration number TGS 680R, Chassis number 23600068A, Engine number TBC, 2.5 litre diesel. In the early 1960's both the Royal Marines, then largely based aboard commando carriers, and the British Army required a vehicle that could be carried by air. They had taken delivery of the Westland Wessex helicopter, which could carry a 2,500lb load slung beneath. The smallest Land Rover available at the time was a Series IIA 88 inch wheelbase, which was too heavy, so they devised weight saving measures such as removable panels and removing non-essential equipment. The most significant change, however, was a reduction in width by 4 inch, by redesigning the standard Series IIA axles and fitting shorter half-shafts, which meant it would fit on a standard pallet. Complete, the Lightweight IIA weighed 2,650 lb; over the specified weight, however, with the removable body panels taken off it was below the limit and since improvements to the helicopters meant more lift was available, the MoD accepted it for use. The first production models were completed on 11th November 1968, and production continued until 1984, with the Series IIA being replaced by the Series III in 1972. The first 1,400 had their headlights on the radiator panel in the mesh grill. This example, one of the earliest produced (68th), was delivered to 45 Commando Royal Marines on the 1st January 1969 in North Ireland and was registered as 72 FG 48. In service until it went into storage in 1972 and then subsequently sold out of the Army in June of 1976. Purchased by the deceased father of our vendor it has been off the road for several years but started up when viewed and it will be sold with a new MOT. It appears to be in good mechanical and body condition and also in period trim. Sold with the V5C, copy of the army data card and the new MOT.

1945 Ford GPW Jeep- Imported into UK in 1985 and attributed to the current registered keeper in 1988- Offerd with deactivated Browning 50 calibre machine gun, canvases, spade, old radio, jerry can etc- Collection of old MOT certificates and invoicesThink of WWII and the Jeep will be there somewhere - the two are synonymous, even though production didn't begin in earnest until 1942 - half way through the hostilities. Weighing in at little more than a ton and equipped with a torquey L-headed 2.2-litre engine driving all four wheels via a three-speed manual box and two-speed transfer case, the tough, go anywhere Jeep did its job well, sparking a number of imitations - not least the original Land Rover. By the end of the war, close to three-quarters of a milliion Jeeps had been produced - 280,000 of which were manufactured by Ford. Many examples survive around the world and are regularly employed in film work, war games or for simply having fun. The Jeep on offer was imported into UK in 1985 and attributed to the current registered keeper in 1988 to use alongside his business as a promotional / advertising vehicle. Offered complete with what is believed to be a deactivated Browning 50 calibre machine gun, canvases, spade, old radio, jerry can etc, plus a collection of old MOT certificates and invoices. The vendor currently grades the bodywork, paintwork, engine, interior and gearbox as 'Very Good'. A great talking point for the pub.PLEASE NOTE: All estimates are subject to a buyer's premium of 16.2% incl. VAT (@ 20%)

Lot 59

1991 Rover Mini Cooper- Just undergone an extensive bodywork restoration, windows out re-paint and mechanical overhaul- 69,400 miles from new and offered with a collection of invoices and old MOT certificates- Described as ''excellent" with regards to the bodywork, paintwork, engine and gearboxWith the after effects of the 1956-1957 Suez Crisis being felt worldwide, Leonard Lord commissioned Alec Issigonis to work on a radical small car project. His response was the now legendary Mini. Featuring an ingenious transverse-mounted powertrain (with engine sat atop of the gearbox), all-round independent 'rubber cone' suspension, front-wheel drive and compact rack and pinion steering, the newcomer was a packaging masterpiece; not to mention one of the most influential automotive designs ever conceived. A fine example of a Rover Mini Cooper in British Racing Green with a white roof and black cloth upholstery 'J535 JUT' has just undergone an extensive bodywork restoration, windows out re-paint and mechanical overhaul. Having covered 69,400 miles from new it is offered with a collection of invoices and old MOT certificates. The restoration has included new floor pans, sills, inner and outer rear quarters, rear boot valance, new off side and near side doors, new front panel, new window rubbers and chrome inserts, rear subframe, new walnut dash, new wheels and tyres, new headlamp, new front grill, chrome kit and bumpers. The vendor currently grades the bodywork, paintwork, engine and gearbox as 'excellent" and is offering the Mini with an MOT certificate into January 2018.PLEASE NOTE: All estimates are subject to a buyer's premium of 16.2% incl. VAT (@ 20%)

Lot 31

1976 Toyota HJ45 Land Cruiser Pickup- Subject to a recent extensive restoration, mechanical and engine overhaul- Offered with photographs of the restoration plus current V5C- Displaying 62,400 kms and offered with an MOT certificate into April 2018.The origins of the long-running Land Cruiser series of 4x4s date back to 1941, when the Japanese authorities ordered Toyota to reverse engineer the Jeep. With the experience of several military trucks behind it, the company then launched the first Land Cruiser 10 years later. The name has subsequently become a byword for rugged dependability in parts of the world where even the ubiquitous Land Rover has been known to struggle. The now classic Land Cruiser models were produced from 1960 to 1984, and the righthand drive version now offered is of the two-door pickup variant that hails from 1976 powered by the 3.6-litre six-cylinder diesel engine driving through a four-speed manual gearbox. This smart looking example has been subject to a recent extensive restoration, mechanical and engine overhaul and is offered with photographs of the restoration plus current V5C and letter from Toyota confirming the build date. Displaying 62,400 kms the vendor currently classes the bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, engine and manual gearbox as 'Very Good' and is offered with an MOT certificate into April 2018.PLEASE NOTE: All estimates are subject to a buyer's premium of 16.2% incl. A 1994 MG RV8, registration number L184 KUX, chassis number SARRAWBMBMG000414, engine number UEA48A0000257, White gold. The RV8 was conceived in 1988 with production starting in 1992 after the introduction of the new Heritage bodyshell. The external body panels were revised but the MG B origins are still evident. Power came from the Rover 3.9 litre V8 delivering 185 bhp which was sufficient to propel the MG to a top speed of 135 mph and 0-60 mph of six seconds. The interiors were lavishly equipped with leather and walnut trim and double duck lined hoods were fitted. This example we have the pleasure in offering for sale is an original home market right hand drive example, finished in the very rare (believed to be one of only eleven) White gold and has a complementary tan leather interior, black double duck hood and sits on the correct period alloy wheels. The current owner of three years has used the MG sparingly, only adding a few hundred miles to the odometer. The accompanying history file is extensive with numerous receipts, past MOTs and an original sales brochure. It is now rare to find an original home market car as so many were exported and subsequently re-imported to fill a gap in the British market. V5C, MOT to June 2018 See illustrations

This 86" Series I tilt carries a Somerset registration and has seen recent expenditure on a new canvas tilt and Exmoor seats. ***V5C received and states three previous keepers***, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations

Lot 26

A 1987 Range Rover VM diesel classic four door, registration number E330 VYD, green. This diesel Range Rover must be one of the only examples still being driven by its original owner from new, and garaged throughout that period at the owner's address in South Somerset. The car was purchased by the vendor's company as his personal transport and was maintained by the company until being transferred into his name on 30th June 1998. The Range Rover has been maintained by a local 4x4 specialist since new. The car was registered with a private number from 1998 until 2017 and that number is now retained on a retention certificate by the vendor, and its original registration of E330 VYD has been re-instated. In March 2005 a new old-stock VM diesel engine was discovered still boxed at Land Rover during stock taking and was purchased by the vendor to replace the original engine. The Range Rover has covered just over 42,000 miles since March 2005 when the new engine was fitted. Further noteworthy replacement parts include a new original starter motor at a cost of £740 on 10th February 2016. At that time, English Heritage stated that there were only three of the original starter motors still in stock. The original starter motor from this car is included. A front spoiler and air conditioning were fitted in 1995. The Range Rover is fitted with its original sunshine roof, a tow bar, velour interior, mats and carpet and with original Range Rover stereo radio with graphic equalizer. This well maintained classic Range Rover will be offered for auction with a substantial history file, containing receipts, brochures and previous MOTs. V5C, MOT to June 2018 See illustrations

Lot 40

A 1962 Land Rover Series IIA 88" canvas tilt, registration number JJK 496J, chassis number 24103268A, Bronze green. Series IIA production started in 1961 and a short wheel base example found fame in the film Born Free alongside Elsa the lion. As previous models the Series II was available in both short wheel base and long wheel base forms. This 88" canvas tilt was released from military service and registered on 1st July 1971. There were two previous registered keepers before the current registered owner purchased the Land Rover in 1996. In the last three years considerable expenditure has been lavished upon it. The Land Rovery was entrusted to an East Midlands specialist who started the restoration fitting a new galvanised chassis, rebuilding the engine to unleaded specification, fitting new doors, renewing the drivetrain and running gear and painting the body in traditional Bronze green. The Land Rover was then sent to Marksdanes who fitted a new canvas tilt, refurbished the wheels, fitted a new radiator, wiring loom, refitted the dashboard, and completed the car for MOT. The accompanying history file contains the purchase invoice in 1996 for £2500, copy receipts from Craddocks for approximately £2000, a receipt from Marksdanes for £9500, previous MOTs and sundry paperwork. Unfortunately receipts for the previous part of the restoration are not available. Now freshly MOT'd this smartly presented example is ready to be enjoyed by the next custodian. V5, V5C, MOT to July 2018 See illustrations
