1985 Land Rover 90 V8 County Station Wagon 4x4Registration no. D216 CRWChassis no. SALLDVBV7AA233483Odometer reading: 38,900MOT: 27/10/21*Former Land Rover factory demonstrator*Exceptionally original and unmolested*Present ownership for 19 years*Only 38,000 warranted miles from new To view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:Offered here is one of the very first production Land Rover 90 V8s: a short-wheelbase County seven-seater station wagon with the early 'lift door handles'. Other notable features include Alpine roof lights; top-of-the-range cloth trim; brown carpeting; the five-speed gearbox; and power steering. This quite exceptional vehicle has covered a mere 38,000 warranted miles from new and is totally original, with galvanised capping and unpainted rivets, just as it left the factory. An extremely rare find, it was featured as the cover story by Land Rover Enthusiast in May 2002 and again ten years later. This example left the factory on 28th March 1985, prior to the 90 V8's official announcement, and it remained unregistered until 17th September 1986. During those 18 months, the vehicle remained the property of Land Rover Ltd and was used as a factory demonstrator before being registered as 'D216 CRW', a recognised factory registration. It was acquired in 2002 by the vendor, who is responsible for 21,000 of the 38,000 miles recorded. His first job was to commission the superior full under-body protection offered by 'Before N After' in Newbury. Never re-sprayed and totally original, 'D216 CRW' comes with the original road wheels as well as a set of Wolf Land Rover wheels and tyres as shown. A four-barrel Holley 390 carburettor, sports manifolds and a stainless steel exhaust are the only improvements made.Vendor Score Total: 92/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1970 Land Rover Series IIARegistration no. SUR 398JChassis no. 24139946GOdometer reading: 26,500MOT: Exempt*Fully restored*Lovely Limestone colour scheme*Low mileageFootnotes:Officially unveiled in 1958, the Land Rover Series II was the first Land Rover to be officially styled by a design team headed by David Bache. The Series II was effectively a facelift of the Series I, but the styling was much more sophisticated and modern. Bache and his team added many features that are recognisable today on a modern Defender, such as its rounded roof and 'barrel side' bodylines. Differences between the Series II and the Series IIA are minor and difficult to distinguish, but the IIA was introduced in 1961 and updates included two new 2.25-litre petrol and diesel engines. For 1969, the headlamps were also moved to the wings, and this is a feature that is most recognisable on modern Defenders. This 1970 Series IIA is an immaculate example that has recently been fully restored to a very high standard. It is presented in a stunning Limestone colour scheme with a black vinyl interior, and the engine is also in excellent condition (and said to be running and driving well). The bodywork and interior also present very well, and the mileage is low for an old Land Rover at just 26,500 miles. This is an excellent and usable example with good history to go with it.Vendor Score Total: 98/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1990 Rover 820 Si FastbackRegistration no. G58 EOVChassis no. SAXX55WUBAM271133Odometer reading: 26,195MOT: 30/04/2022*Low mileage 820 Si*Excellent condition*Running and driving wellFootnotes:Built as a collaboration between Honda and Rover, the Rover 800 was introduced in 1986 as the successor to the iconic SD1. A close relative of the Honda Legend, the 800 was offered in saloon, coupe and fastback configurations with a range of both Rover and Honda engines. The 820 Si was added later in 1988, and it was fitted with Rover's 2.0-litre naturally aspirated 16v four-cylinder petrol engine developing 131bhp.With a styling similar to the SD1, this 1990 820 Si is a fastback model that has a very low mileage of just 26,200 miles. It's presented in a very good condition both inside and out, and the 2.0-litre engine is said to be running and driving well. There is also a large history file. Overall, this is an excellent example of a Rover that's becoming increasingly rare.Vendor Score Total: 92/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1977 Morgan +8 Sports Lightweight 19/19Chassis no. R8186Odometer reading: 12,387MOT: Exempt*Low mileage Plus 8 Lightweight*Number 19 of 19*4-speed manual gearbox*Owned by John McLaren (brother of Bruce) To view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:A beautiful 2-seater open tourer, the Morgan Plus 8 offers subtle, elegant styling but with a hidden gem under the bonnet – the 3.5-litre Rover V8. This partnership between Rover and Morgan was largely a result of Peter Wilkes (director of Rover) attempting to purchase Morgan off of Peter Morgan. He politely declined, however the meeting did result in an agreement for the supply of the then new Rover V8 to be fitted in the new Plus 8. This 1977 Plus 8 is a very special Sports Lightweight model that is presented in a beautiful Opalescent Silver with contrasting Gunmetal grey colour scheme. Originally owned by John McLaren (brother of Bruce McLaren), this example is number 19 of just 19 Lightweights built between 1976 and 1977. The Lightweight Plus 8s are incredibly rare, and they are known for their all-aluminium bodywork handcrafted from the factory. A resident of Guernsey, John McLaren imported the car to the island and it has never left since the day it arrived (this is justified by the low mileage of just 12,387 miles). John was also known to have the radiator cowl plated in chrome, and it is known to have had three owners in total. Overall the car is in good condition, and this is a rare and low mileage example of a Plus 8. Comes with a dust cover and a clock made from it's original steering wheel.Vendor Score Total: 60/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH.
