The vendors of this miniature also sold a Waterloo medal through our sales. The medal was in the name of Capt. Richard H Wigston, 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards (2nd Batallion). Capt Wigston is mentioned on the Waterloo Roll and was on duty on the day of the battle in Waterloo village on baggage protection. The early date of this miniature, and anticipating that a Captain was probably in his 20's in 1811 may suggest that the sitter might have been the father of the medal winner.
