Sir Joshua Reynolds painted his portrait, which was purchased for the nation in 1824, and he is also depicted in many commemorative pieces by Staffordshire potters. CONDITION REPORT: Paper browned. Gold smudged and flecks missing. Craquelure and paint loss. Not viewed out of frame.

A 19th Century horn circular box, the lift off cover with domed glazed top under which is an ivory miniature of a young man, inscribed to the reverse of the lid "Mr Rose", the base of the horn circular box with applied label printed "Robert Burns", 7.5 cm diameter CONDITION REPORTS Lid rim broken and reglued, and quite a lot of glue deposits to inside of lid. The ivory portrait is broken/cracked vertically from top to bottom, and has some chips and scuffs and some areas of touch-up paint. Base of box is quite scuffed and scratched and has some chips and cracks. Metal rim holding the glass appears to have been reglued.
