EARLY 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL; a rectangular portrait miniature depicting a young woman seated before a tree, wearing a lace adorned pink bodice, blue shawl and holding a basket of flowers, painted on ivory, unsigned, 13 x 10cm, framed and glazed. CONDITION REPORT: Some twisting and bowing of the ivory although this has not damaged the painting. The frame has been damaged and restored in places .Please see additional images.
A collection of vintage jewellery, comprising a green hardstone necklace, strung with 108 beads, each 10mm, with a 9ct gold clasp, 112cm long, a pair of diamond and turquoise drop earrings, a pair of paste and smokey quartz drop earrings, a pair of Christian Dior turquoise and gold plated clip earrings, and brass pill box, cast with all over floral decoration, the circular lift lid inset with a painted miniature portrait of a Georgian lady, 2 by 5cm, a small Victorian locket, 2.5 by 3cm, and two small green hardstone floral carvings, each 11 by 18mm. A stone set miniature brooch/pendant, the portrait of a lady inset with diamonds and an emerald, in a blue enamelled frame, measures 3.2cm by 5cm The item is in good condition. The pin is steel and has been repaired. It is stamped '18K' and in our opinion it would test as gold. Gross weight 7.8 grams. Portrait is painted. CR 26.07.16
A mahogany bookcase, the glass top etched with a wild cat's paw, opening to reveal a miniature portrait of Jim Corbett of Kumaon, above a lockable glazed door, enclosing shelve, etched Jim Corbett 1875-1955, raised on a plinth base, plaque commemorates the Wilson Lundy collection of rare Corbett books, 33.5cm x 35.5cm x 93cm.
A Georgian gold snuff box, of oval form, the lid set with an oval portrait miniature of Field Marshall Sir Robert Rich, framed by engraving of instruments and scrolls, the sides with Greek key and similar panels, the inside of the lid set with a portrait miniature of Lady Rich, London 1767, makers mark IB, the miniature signed Boit, in a fitted velvet lined shagreen covered case, width 2.5ins Condition report: The box is in good condition, marks are clear and decoration is crisp. The male portrait is in good condition. The female portrait has a line across her neck but it does not appear to be a crack. The outer case is in good condition. Width 2.5ins, depth 2ins, height 1inch.
