Lucia would have been around twenty years old at the time this miniature was painted. During his early career Henry Bone worked as a porcelain and jewellery painter, and exhibited regularly the Royal Academy as an elected Royal Academician. He was appointed as Royal Enamelist to King George III, George IV and William IV. Due to the quality of his work Bone is said to have been known as the "Prince of Enamelers".Condition Report:Good overall condition.Light wear to frame commensurate with age, predominantly in the form of some surface scratches.

After obtaining a position as 'studio boy' in the residence of eminent miniaturist Richard Cosway, Plimer is said to have taken lessens in drawing with the approval of Cosway, whilst some note that he may have received training from Cosway directly. Plimer also exhibited frequently at the Royal Academy from around 1785 up until 1810, and later also in 1819. Condition Report:Overall the miniature is in very good condition.Towards the lower left of the miniature, at the edge of the frame there is what appears to be a small insect beneath the glass, although it may just be a small piece of debris. Under a 10x loupe there is some very slight craquelure to the red coat, just left of the lapel on the left hand side. There is also very small paint flake to the sky to the right of the sitters head, but this does not appear to be as a result of any flaking to the miniature itself, and was most likely done at the time the piece was painted.The frame has some surface scratches, as does the glass, commensurate with age, but neither are by any means heavily damaged, and the hairwork verso is in good overall condition also.

A similar signed and dated example by Parent was sold as part of the Bernard Franck Collection in Paris.Notes: It is unusual to find a work by Parent signed J.C.P., indicating a generally unknown middle name.Former portrait miniature dealers Judy & Brian Harden have noted that this particular example may possibly have either been a presentation piece from either Napoleon himself, or a memento to 'M.J.' from someone connected with the Court. Parent was a well known miniaturist who exhibited at the Paris Salon between 1822 and 1833.As portrait miniaturist at the court of Napoleon he produced a number of miniatures of Napoleon and his generals. Largely considered to have been self-taught, Samuel Shelley worked in a range of mediums throughout he career, producing watercolours, oils, book illustrations and engravings, but is arguably best known for his miniature portraits in watercolour, a medium which he championed establishing the first watercolour society in around 1804.Shelley was a prominent and popular miniaturist during his time, and today his works feature in many major museums. During his time in London Zincke is said to have dominated the market, training a number of well known English miniature painters including William Prewett, and also gaining Royal patronage aided by the endorsement of notable portrait artist Sir Godfrey Kneller.Zincke worked extensively for the Royal Family, including George II and Frederick Prince of Wales, and is arguably the most successful enamel painter of the period in which he worked. Jacques-Antione Arlaud (1668-1743) - Swiss, portrait miniature of a young lady, seated wearing period costume and fashionable lace bonnet, a quill pen and document on a desk by her side, signed, watercolour on ivory, 4.5" x 4.25"-** The artist was born in Geneva in 1668, his father being a watchmaker. He began his artistic career painting small ornamental miniatures for the jeweller at Dijon, he also attempted some portraits which proved sufficiently successful to encourage him to move to Paris at the age of approx. twenty. He had the patronage of The Duke of Orleans who later became is pupil and accommodated the artist in his apartment at The Palace of St. Cloud. he also visited England with a letter of recommendation to the Princess of Wales afterwards Queen Caroline who's portrait he had the honour of painting. He returned to Paris, but settled in Geneva by 1729. Works by him are in Library and Museum of Geneva and his own portrait is in the Uffizi, Florence

Alfred (Bernard) Meyer (1832-1904), signed (lower left), enamelled miniature in the Limoges Renaissance Revival style, head and shoulders portrait of (Jacopo) Sansovino (1479-1570), image size 7cm x 5cm within a pigskin covered small easel backed frame (frame with defects). Note: Jacopo Sansovino was an Italian architect and sculptor, best know for his work around the Piazza San Marco including the Biblioteca Marciana and the Loggetta of Campanile di San Marco.
Three: Second Lieutenant J. S. Newman, East Yorkshire Regiment, who was killed in action at Gallipoli on 7 August 1915 1914-15 Star (2. Lieut. J. S. Newman. E. York. R.); British War and Victory Medals (2. Lieut. J. S. Newman.) all in named card boxes of issue, virtually Mint state (3) £160-£200 --- John Sherwood Newman was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the East Yorkshire Regiment on 1 September 1914 and served with the 6th Battalion during the Great War in the Gallipoli theatre of War from 14 July 1915. He was killed in action on 7 August 1915, aged 21; he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey. Sold together with a portrait photograph of the recipient, housed in a glazed frame; a miniature portrait of the recipient, copied from the above photograph, housed in a gilt oval glazed display; and Memorial Registers for the Helles Memorial, Turkey.
A Fine Portrait Miniature, Silver Flap Pouch, and Indian Mutiny Diary of Surgeon General W. H. Muschamp, who served as Assistant Surgeon with the 82nd Regiment of Foot in both the Crimea and in the North West Provinces during the Great Sepoy Mutiny i) A fine Portrait Miniature of Surgeon General Muschamp, in Military Dress, wearing the Crimea Medal, 110mm x 80mm, housed within a gilt frame in a rectangular dark brown leather case, the inside of the case with red velvet lining and gilt tooled, the two sections of the case detached, the portrait in excellent condition ii) Silver Flap Pouch, the engraved front with indistinct hallmarks and surmounted by an ornate crowned VR cypher in gilt, with superimposed eagle, with black Moroccan leather pouch, and complete with side belt fixings, the securing leather tab no longer present, generally good condition iii) The recipient’s Indian Mutiny Diary, 39pp, loose pages later bound within paper covers, covering the period 20 May 1857 to 27 May 1858, with brief sporadic entries to the early 1860s, a full and interesting account giving accurate with regards to both the date and place of entries, some of the earlier entries slightly difficult to decipher, as usual for the period, overall good condition (3) £600-£800 --- William Henry Muschamp was born in 1816 and entered the Army as an Assistant-Surgeon on 23 January 1855. He served with the 82nd Regiment of Foot in the Crimea from 30 August 1855, and was present at the siege and fall of Sebastopol and attack of the 8 September (Medal with clasp for Sebastopol, and Turkish Crimea Medal). He saw further service with the 82nd Foot on the North West Provinces in suppressing the Great Sepoy Mutiny including the operations at Cawnpore under General Windham and the defeat there of the Gwalior Contingent; the actions of Kalee Nuddee and Khankur; the capture of Bareilly; the relief of Shahjehanpore; and the affairs of Mahomdee, Shahabad, and Bunkagahon (Medal). Promoted Surgeon on 9 November 1867, he was advanced Surgeon Major on 1 March 1873; Brigade-Surgeon on 26 May 1880; and Deputy Surgeon General on 10 September 1883. He retired with the honorary rank of Surgeon General on 12 May 1886, and died in Brompton, London, in August 1897.

A 19th century silhouette portrait miniature, a portrait miniature frame, two pot lids, a small framed Elizabethan style print and a small porcelain plaque. CONDITION REPORT: Bears Grease pot lid - the pot lid is free from any repairs or restoration. It is however extremely dirty. There are some edge nibbles and a more significant chip just above the left hand dogs head. There is also a scratch running across the top tree bough. The rear of the lid is extremely dirty and has traces of glue where it has been fixed into the frame. We cannot however see any significant cracks or damage. The frame surrounding is in extremely poor condition.
