ENGLISH SCHOOL, PORTRAIT MINIATURE OF ELIZABETH HAMILTON depicted in a garden setting, wearing a green dress and peach-coloured silk shawl, flowers in her hair, 6.5cm dia. in a beaded brass circular frame Elizabeth Hamilton (c. 1721-1800) was the daughter of Lord Archibald Hamilton and his second wife Jane, a Royal mistress. In 1742 Elizabeth married the then Lord Brooke, Francis Greville, who was later to become 1st Earl of Warwick upon his restoration to the Earldom of Warwick by King George III in 1760.
