Horace Hone (1754-1825), portrait miniature of a young lady, signed with initials and dated 1782, painted on ivory. 67 mm x 55 mm, in leather case (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The miniature is under glass and we do not wish to remove this from the frame. We have looked at the image under a glass and can see no evidence of any warping, cracks or damage to the ivory. There does not appear to be any paint loss. We do not think there is any significant fading to the image. The outer leather case is a little worn and scuffed in places but in generally good condition with no significant losses. Both retaining clips are present

A rare and important royal miniature, first half of the 18th century, Augustus III King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, painted on enamel probably by Christian Friedrich Zincke from the half-length oil on canvas portrait executed by Louis de Silvestre c. 1730. In a gold and silver (or white gold) frame studded with chip diamonds. A little restoration to the enamel. (Augustus III spent almost his entire life in Dresden where Silvestre was his court painter. Contemporary miniature copies from Silvestre's portraits of Augustus are well known including one in the Royal Collection. Zincke worked mainly in England but maintained strong ties with Dresden where he trained).
