A large miniature painting on ivory of the son of Dost Mohammad Akbar Khan the son of Dost Mohammad – who murdered the great Sikh genereal Hari Singh Nalwa c1830-1850. Old English inscription verso – reads “Akbar Khan the son of Dost Mohammad. Amir Akbar famously known as Wazir Akbar Khan was an Afghan Prince a general a tribal leader and Emir. In 1837 in the battle of Jamrud he killed Sikh general Hari Singh Nalwa in a planned tyrantical way by conspiring whilst trying to get back the city of Peshawar for the Afghans from the Sikh army but Akbar Khan failed to do so. A historical portrait of Sikh and Islamic interest. Watercolour 9.5cm x 7.5cm framed. Provenance – private English collection.
