CONTINENTAL SCHOOL, 20TH CENTURY. Five portrait miniatures depicting British historical figures, comprising Lord Byron, William Pitt, Admiral Nelson, Robert Burns and Sir Walter Scott, variously signed 'J. Rotsz, R. Vichi' and others, each 3 1/2 x 2 3/4 in, mounted within a single frame; sold with a further portrait miniature depicting a Lady in white head-dress and three prints in the manner of William Redmore Bigg.
19th century portrait miniature on ivory, possibly of Lord Douglas Hamilton, with gilt metal mount and hair plait verso, velvet mount, 6.5cm x 5.5cm CONDITION REPORT: No obvious cracks or signs of warping. A few minor dirty spots to ivory, glass needs cleaned. Minor wear to frame but generally good condition.
ENGLISH SCHOOL (18th/19th century) Portrait miniature of Katherine Rose, wife of Major Dugald Gilchrist, of Ospisdale, Sutherland, 1800 Watercolour on ivory, opposing a glazed hair work panel, in yellow metal frame with suspension loop, in original red leather case with hand written provenance. 7 x 9.5 cm overall. CONDITION REPORTS: Generally in good condition, expected wear, slight scuffing to case, case a little tired.

(2) CONDITION REPORTS: Both generally in good condition, expected wear, some fading/staining, some slight losses to frame, hand written labels to verso.

First World War oval portrait miniature on ivory - study of a First World War Officer with East Surrey Regiment and Royal Flying Corp / R.A.F. badges, in gilt frame, in velvet-lined easel backed leather presentation case, stamped - 'D.H.C.' on front, the miniature is likely of Lt. Donald Heriot Anson of R.A.F., killed aged just seventeen on 17th April 1918
