Lot 1169

A Georgian portrait profile miniature on ivory, a notable gentleman facing left, picked out in light brown and body colour against a black ground and mounted in a gilt metal and enamelled frame, the reverse with blue enamel border framing a woven hair memorial and with gilt suspension loop. 7.5 cm x 7 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The image does not fully fit the frame. There are 46 vacant cloisons in the enamelled border which should be filled with white enamels forming to leaves. On the reverse the blue glass has a triangular section missing. There is a further crack to the blue glass located between 5 & 6 if looking on a clock dial.

A portrait miniature on ivory, gentleman, early 19th century, mounted in copper frame and backing, with suspension loop. Image 5 cm x 3.8 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: As you look at the image there appears to be a small tiny flake of paint at the very tip of his collar on the left hand side just below his wisps of hair, this may be visible if you enlarge the image on the website. There appear to be no cracks or warping to the ivory, the glass does appear to be rather dirty underneath but not overly so and the image remains bright and crisp. There does not appear to be any overpainting or restoration and no obvious faults.
