An early 19th Century mahogany reading table, the adjustable slope top with tooled and gilded leather writing surface over two candle slides and a frieze drawer on turned and ringed centre pedestal to cabriole tripod base CONDITION REPORTS Wear to the leather, impressed marks, scratches and scuffs to the mahogany. Various impressed marks, deep scratches, ring marks, scuffs, nibbles to the edges etc. Right hand drawer very stiff and missing compartment inside. Slightly wobbly on base. Various marks, scratches and scuffs throughout. General signs of wear and tear. Worn side slide is recessed into body and handle missing - needs attnetion. A very fine set of twelve ebonised framed and glazed (later) 19th Century Chinese rice paper Paintings depicting high ranking officials and attendants in various guises within interior surroundings with lavish floor coverings and various objects and backgrounds etc., very finely painted with the facial expressions extremely well defined, each Painting approx. 31cm x 21cm CONDITION REPORT: Dimensions: Paintings each approx. 30cm x 20cm - within the frames they are 37.5cm x 27cm. Picture 1 (number 397) - All looks good although there is a minor water blemish on the mount on the bottom. Picture 2 - All looks good too with no major problems noted. Picture 3 - Similar although there is a match head sized dent to the painting to the middle left of the red vase on the table. Picture 4 (seated dignitary with an attendant boy to his right) - There is some paint deterioration around the feet of the seated dignitary (see image). Picture 5 - Looks reasonable overall, some very faint minor foxing noted on wall and a very shallow indentation horizontally running across the forehead of the young girl attendant. Picture 6 - Reasonable condition with no major flaws noted. Picture 7 (lady with her left hand on the table with pink vase and flowers) - The “back wall” on the painting looks a little brown and stained in places including top left (see image). Picture 8 (Dignitary in long blue robe with an archer in a yellow robe kneeling before him) - Some vertical and horizontal foxing lines across the back wall area (see image). Picture 9 (Dignitary looking towards a blue vase on a table and to her right is a young girl in a pink robe offering a cup resting on a red bowl) - In good general overall condition, there is a minor darkening towards the top left and side (see image). Picture 10 (Man seated looking left in a blue robe and a servant in a yellow robe offering him a cup and cover on a green saucer) - Generally very good order bar three minor pin head sized foxing spots noted upper left (see image). Picture 11 (Lady seated in a blue robe on a chair with a round circular tripod table immediately to her left also a small attendant with a kettle) - Generally good order with some faint horizontal darkening marks noticed upon close inspection to the back wall. Picture 12 (Gentleman in a long flowing blue robe with a sampan hat on and feather looking to his left and boy looking at him with a long pointed blue and green fan in his right hand - Generally very good order, some horizontal darkening lines mostly towards the top area and to the right of the fruit raised on a stand upon the table. Overall the condition of the paintings is generally very good and commensurate with age, the quality of the paintings including the faces is very good.
A William IV/early Victorian rosewood adjustable Music Chair on tripod base terminating in French scrolls, 87cm (highest point) CONDITION REPORT: The rosewood has faded somewhat and it does appear to revolve and adjust up and down. There are small pieces of wood away from the supports under the scrolling feet and also at the top of one of the scrolling feet. See images. The chair appears to be in fairly good original untouched condition but could benefit from a good wax and polish etc.,
WILLIAMS (BIRMINGHAM) LTD; a George VI hallmarked silver inkwell with octagonal spreading lobed base, Birmingham 1945, a pair of tripod open salts with blue glass liners (maker's marks rubbed), a pair of sugar tongs, Thomas Oliphant, London 1831, and a silver salt spoon (maker's marks rubbed), Birmingham 1918 (5).
A George III Irish mahogany tilt-top games table, carved with foliate motifs to the top, with dished corners, on turned baluster column on tripod base with carved cabriole legs on paw feet, 66.5 x 56.5cm, height 69cm. CONDITION REPORT: General surface wear such as minor staining and scratches to the surface, also there is a split to the top close to one of the borders, length approx 30cm.
A William IV teapoy, the sarcophagus hinged lid enclosing a baize lined interior with two lidded containers above foliate carved and ring turned column on tripod base with cabriole scrolling legs, height 85cm, width 38cm (lock af). CONDITION REPORT: Cannot see any sign of woodworm. Chips to the corners and sides of top, cracks to veneer, etc. Interior heavily worn with chips, etc. The two loose canisters also heavily worn with losses. Losses to lower border and chips to corners.
