A Pair of Second World War German 10 X 80 Observation Binoculars by Jos Schneider & Co, Kreuznach, Germany, in polished steel and aluminium, with ribbed adjustable lens housings and a bakelite horizontal adjusting knob, the left side set with bakelite filter knob with four selections for the in-built filters, the right side stamped D.F.10X80, with maker's code X dkl X and numbered 54896, detachable anti-flare hoods, on an aluminium cantilever bracket with cylindrical side handles, all mounted on a folding wood tripod with aluminium folding stretchers and mounts . Some dirt spotting to internal lenses. The metalwork now has a bright polished finish. Stand is possibly later.

Some veneer to the top is lifting, mostly towards the back. There is a new/later backboard, probably part of a Victorian dressing table originally.
A 19th Century single draw brass telescope, signed Dollond, London, Achromatic Night, also engraved with crest and motto, leather bound tube with gilt brass clamp and column, on a tripod base, 67 cm long (closed)Provenance: the crest is for the Pelley family of Naval Officers. This telescope was passed down from Captain Richard Pelley (1814-1890) to Admiral Sir Henry Pelley KCVO, CB (1867-1942) and then Comander Douglas Pelley.
