A DUTCH SILVER MINIATURE TOMBOLA" by Johannes Van Geffen, circa 1740the base shaped as a tripod table, the top engraved with a scene of two adults and a child walking (possibly biblical) and with sections numbered from one to twelve, the detachable revolving top formed as an acrobat on a balancing wire, holding a hat in his right hand and a stick in his left, height: 12.5cm, (66.77 grams). Literature: for a similar example see Lot 327, Christie's Amsterdam, The Decorative Arts Sale, 22nd-23rd September 2009 . Provenance: Part of the collection (lots 167-231) formed by Baron Michiels van Verduynen (1885-1952), the Dutch ambassador to the Court of St James’(1939-1942). Possibly Irish. 78 cm diameter x 70 cm high to the top x 73 cm high to the top of the gallery.Condition report: The legs are starting to splay at the block.Signs of old glue repairs to the gallery, basically where the gallery has come loose and been glued back.

Smee & Sons, dated 1850. The model in this catalogue differing form the Smee design with the additional tier of supports and no allowance for the storage of canes.
