A George II Carved Mahogany Tripod Table, mid 18th century, the circular flip top with pie-crust edge above a fluted and acanthus-carved baluster support, on carved cabriole legs with ball and claw feet62cm by 72cmThe top has various deep scratches, some staining and also to splits/repairs as photographed also repairs to moulding the underside signs of the bearers and clasp being movedblock support also repaired. The base section general small losses to the carving and one leg also repaired table is structurally sound.
An 18th century circular oak occasional table; turned stem and on tripod base with elongated pad feet (57.5 cm wide x 70.5 cm high).Condition Report: The dished top has two planks and is slightly oval rather than circular as the wood has shrunk across the grain as expected. The top is pale and has many water ring marks and is darker to the outer raised area. Underneath - very dirty (stored in an outbuilding perhaps), further evidence of water marks, one of bearers slightly away at one end, screws are rusty, the block that the stem meets has a split from the middle to the edge. The Auctioneer suggests these are the not the originally matched top and base, but matched together. Some scuffing around the edges underneath. Loss of colouring to the tripod base.
A Chinese gilt bronze Tripod Censer, of typical circular form with two loop handles, raised on three conical supports, seal mark to base, 13.5cm long handle to handle, on a plinth base. Provenance; Col. R.L Vance RAMC (Indian Medical Service) serving in India and Tibet in the early 20thC, up until the 1930's, by family tradition having received items as personal gifts from grateful patients.
