A Regency rosewood centre table by Gillows of Lancaster, the circular top with beaded edge, brass inlaid border and central circular alabaster veneered panel, on a turned and foliate carved baluster support to acanthus and C-scroll carved tripod base to lion's paw feet, 75 cm diameter x 75 cm high (Provenance: Originally the property of William Francis Spencer Ponsonby, 1st Baron de Mauley of Canford - an image of Maria Jane Ponsonby seated at the table in 1830 included. The Ponsonbys had accounts with Gillows and had much furniture from them. Images of this table have been seen by Susan Stuart author of "Gillows: of Lancaster and London 1730-1840", who amongst much else suggests that the table was probably by Gillows. See the Auctioneers for further information) CONDITION REPORTS Major damage to the marble top and missing and cracked sections all over, all over scratches, scuffs and marks, chips all round edge, brass inlay with loose inner sections and broken in sections, rosewood veneer around inlay missing sections, cracked and with chips etc., damage to the outer ring and glue becoming unstuck, large crack running down the column, other cracks and splits, scuffs, marks and scratches to feet, large signs of wear and tear throughout.
A PAIR OF FINE QUALITY SIGNED JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD IVORY TRIPOD KOROS, each carved in deep relief with extremely detailed scenes of village life, the sides of each koro set with double Baku scroll handles, each supported on dragon’s head feet and with an engraved signature to its base, 5.7in wide including handles & 4.3in high to top of handles.
A GOOD QUALITY CHINESE CLOISONNE & GILT BRONZE TRIPOD CENSER & COVER, circa 1900, the sides decorated with a formal design of scroll and leaf-stemmed lotus, the pierced cover with the ‘Three Friends’ beneath a ruyi decorated finial, the sides with double buddhistic lion-head handles, 5.7in high overall.
