An imperial Chinese white jade tripod censer, Qianlong mark and of the periodH 5 - Dia.: 7,5 cm Provenance: - Ex-collection Baron Beyens (Napoléon Eugène Louis Joseph Marie Auguste, 1855-1934), a famous Belgian diplomat and minister, son of Eugène Beyens (1816-1894) and Maria de las Merce des Alcala Galiano y Valencia (1828-1917), husband of Marguerite Oppenheim whom he married on the 1st of June 1899 in Paris. The origins of the Beyens family, a family of lawyers and diplomats, lie in Nazareth, the municipality where the auction house is also located .

The body is casted in the form of an inverted bell supported by three elephant-head feet, each with tusks and harnesses, with lotus scrolls decorating the body. The cover is cast metalwork, also with lotus scrolls around the cast and a recumbent elephant resting, topped with a pointing European man. Full side handle. All mounts for fixing the MG 42 onto the tripod are present. Manufacturer markings visible but illegible. Notable wear and oxidation on the piece. A fine field support designed for one of the most iconic machine guns of World War II. Condition II+.
