A rare and early Martin Brothers stoneware watch stand by Robert Wallace Martin, dated 1875, the circular stand supported on tripod stand and circular base, modelled and pierced with stylised foliate borders in green and blue on a buff ground incised no.2 R W Martin London 3-1875, 14cm. high Provenance The George Twyman Collection of Martin Ware
A 19th century mahogany tripod table with piecrust edge, snap action, turned column and legs terminating in claw and ball feet. CONDITION REPORT: The table top is manufactured from two sections of mahogany. The smaller section is slightly loose. If this was fixed back in place the dividing line between the two planks would be almost invisible. This would be very easy to do. The table top is itself flat with no warping. The colour is generally good and there are only very minor surface scratches and small old dowel repairs. The bearers beneath the top have been moved and we believe the basin top to be a marriage. The centre turned column and legs are structurally sound. One leg has had an old break and there is a bracing hoop at the back of the leg and a drilled repair through the front. The same leg has had a break across the pad foot and repairs to the pad foot. Leg two has repairs around the edges of the pad foot. All legs have evidence of old castor holes. We believe the base and top to be a marriage. There are numerous holes to the underside of the top suggesting that the top was in a former life on a different base.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany folding cake stand, a tripod table and plant stand. CONDITION REPORT: The folding cake stand is in generally good original condition with no significant issues. There are some minor scuffs, scratches and old marks but no real problems. The tripod table is structurally sound but does have significant staining to the dished top caused by water. There are however no structural issues. The torchere is structurally sound with no significant issues.
A Georgian mahogany tripod table, with circular top on a ring turned column with three downswept legs. Diameter 36.5 cm, height 67 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The dimensions are as per the catalogue description. In our opinion whilst the table top and base have been together for a long time they are not original to each other. The top is clearly Georgian as is the base but the two are a marriage. The top has numerous old marks and scratches and two prominent gouges at one edge. The top has been re-polished. It is not quite circular and may have been cut down from a large table top. The centre column is in good condition. The legs do not have any repairs. All have traces of old woodworm to the tips and pads. All three feet have losses and wear to the extremities. The table is structurally sound.
