A CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE TRIPOD INCENSE BURNER 17TH CENTURY The compressed circular body painted to the exterior with officials and attendants in a fenced garden of pine, plantain, prunus trees and rocks, under a narrow band of stylised clouds, all raised on three short feet, 26.6cm. Provenance: from a British private collection, formed 1970-2003, purchased from Christie's, London, 12th November 1998, lot 433.
A CHINESE BRASS TRIPOD INCENSE BURNER AND COVER LATE QING DYNASTY The body engraved with a water-dragon, a pagoda, and with the Queen Mother of the West riding a phoenix, the sides applied with elephant and loose-ring handles, the cover with a Buddhist lion-dog finial, together with a wood stand, 4.1kg, 31cm across. FOUR CHINESE POTTERY ITEMS HAN DYNASTY AND LATER Comprising: a sancai globular ewer with phoenix decoration on the lower body and spout, splashed overall with green ochre and straw-coloured glazes, a sancai twin-handled tripod incense burner, a green glazed palanquin model, and a circular pottery box and cover, painted in red and dark brown pigments, 22cm max. (5) Provenance: from an English private collection, West Yorkshire, formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
A CHINESE BRONZE TRIPOD INCENSE BURNER AND COVER POSSIBLY HAN DYNASTY The circular shallow body raised on three tall cabriole legs, flanked by a pair of upright loop handles, the domed cover surmounted by three ring handles, together with a wood stand, 22cm overall. (3) Provenance: from the collection of Mr Charles Sydney Cheston, painter, d.1960, and thence by descent, recorded in Charles Cheston's 1946 catalogue as purchased for £25.

A CHINESE IMPERIAL CLOISONNE TRIPOD INCENSE BURNER AND COVER, DING QIANLONG 1736-95 The exterior decorated with lappets containing archaistic scrolls and stylised lotus sprays, with bosses formed as flowerheads contained between raised bands above, with two upright loop handles decorated with mythical beast masks rising from the rim, the cover pierced with a continuous band of scrolling lotus, surmounted by an openwork ovoid finial formed as a ferocious dragon writhing amongst swirling clouds, all raised on three tall cylindrical feet, 1.1kg, 24.7cm. (2) Provenance: a private English collection, purchased in Cheltenham in the early 1970s. Cf. A SMALL CHINESE BLANC DE CHINE TWO-HANDLED TRIPOD INCENSE BURNER 17TH/EARLY 18TH CENTURY The shallow body decorated in relief with two prunus sprays, with two loop handles rising from the everted rim, all raised on three tall stylised moulded feet which curve at the ends, with an unglazed area to the base, 8.6cm dia.
