A 19TH CENTURY CEYLONESE CENTRE TABLE circular top inlaid with various exotic specimen woods, central ivory panel, alternating inlay in the form of peacock feathers or a flower head, greek key edge, turned central column and tripod legs terminating in peacock heads, 43" diameter (deficiencies) (see illustration). Note: The table bears a label beneath stating the following 'Table made in Ceylon for the Hon.ble. Gerald Chetwynd Talbot (grandfather of Charles He ... Chetwynd Talbot). This is the exact replica of the table at Windsor Castle'. Hon. Gerald Chetwynd-Talbot (1819-1885) was Private Secretary to the Governor General of India 1856. The table is being sold by a direct descendant. Refer to office for estimate.

LACQUERED BRASS TABLE TELESCOPE AND STAND BY THOMAS MATTHEWS, signed on the back plate MATTHEWS 9 Athol Place, Pentonville, rack-and-pinion focussing and height adjustment, secured to a tapering tripod stand with hinged legs, 18 x 39Din. (46 x 99.5cm.), Thomas B. Matthews, an optician, worked from this address alone between 1845 and 1849.
A 19TH CENTURY BRASS SURVEYING DIAL, the silvered compass signed J Gargory, Fecit, 5 Bull St, Birm, well engraved compass points, the minor circle divided in four quadrants, the horizontal scale with vernier, arranged to adjust and rotate by enclosed rack and pinion gear, the edge-bar needle with jewelled cap and sliding lock on the underside of the compass box, the shaped base with folding fore and aft sights, level and tripod or staff mounting socket, the dial cover plate engraved with declination scale 30°-0-30° inscribed LINKS, the instrument showing some signs of original lacquer, contained in the original mahogany case, 10 3/4" (27.3cm) wide and with a mahogany tripod. A 19TH CENTURY POLISHED-BRASS THEODOLITE, (dismantled); signed on the horizontal plate Schmalcalder 399 Strand London, the telescope with rack and pinion focusing, bubble level mounted over the vertical half circle with Y supports and hinged clamps (one missing), raised on inverted V-frames incorporating tangent-screw fine adjustment, compass box and fore-aft bubble level, (cross bubble missing), the compass with plain iron needle with jewelled cap, the horizontal plate with twin silvered vernier scales to read against the chamfered silvered horizontal circle, with part base and tripod attachment (a lot). A Red Lacquered Tripod Table Circa 1900 with chinoiserie decoration. The rectangular top with canted corners profusely painted with a Oriental lake scene. The baluster turned column above the three swept legs highlighted with gold paintwork. 21½ ins (72 cms) in height, 18¾ ins (48 cms) in height, 24 ins (61 cms) in depth.

The stop-fluted column above a foliate carved bulbous knop & three outswept legs enriched with rococo style foliate sprays & terminating on scroll carved pointed pad feet. 30½ ins (77 cms) in height.
An 18th Century Walnut Pole Screen. The rectangular tapestry screen depicting a huntress & hound in a moulded frame with carved foliate corners. The pole surmounted by an urn finial and standing on a tripod base; the outswept legs carved at the hip with a shell motif and terminating on pointed pad feet. 63¾ ins (164 cms) in height.
