*** Montena (19th Century) Atmospheric Colourist street scene, oil on canvas, with a black ink stamp to the stretcher bearing the name of The Little Gallery, East Newark, NJ, early 20th century, 51 x 40.5 cm The Little Review Gallery was a small Modern Art gallery associated with the American literary magazine 'The Little Review'. The gallery was owned and operated from 1924-1927 by Jane Heap, acting editor of the magazine at the time. The gallery was primarily devoted to Constructivism, Dadaism and machine-inspired art, and it featured works by Man Ray and Kurt Schwitters among others. In December 1925 the gallery was moved to a larger, more permanent location on Fifth Avenue, New York. According to an advert in the New York Tribune in March 1925, The Little Review Gallery was "Founded by artists in the interest of artists" and housed "paintings, sculptures and constructions".

* TIM MARA (IRISH 1948 - 1997), PLASTIC FUNNEL, MORTAR AND PESTLE screenprint, signed, titled, dated 1992 and numbered 46/50 in pencil 76cm x 57cm Framed and under glass. Note: Published as part of Six Artists: The 1992 Royal College of Art (London) Portfolio of (6) Prints as a limited edition of 50. The other artists selected for this portfolio were John Bellany RA, Sir Eduardo Paolozzi RA, Nana Shiomi RE, Dame Paula Rego RA and Sir Terry Frost RA. Tim Mara worked as an artist and as a teacher for 25 years teaching at NCAD Dublin, later becoming Head of Printmaking at the Royal Collage of Art, London. He was particularly noted for his use of screenprinting, etching and lithography and was awarded numerous pretigious awards and prizes. In 1978 he was commissioned to write the Thames and Hudson Manual of Screen Printing . Born in Dublin in 1948, Tim Mara moved with his family to England in 1953 where he continued to live and work. Mara's prints are included in collections at the Tate London, Victoria and Albert Museum, Irish Museum of Modern Art as well as many other galleries and private collections worldwide.

Vertue (George) A Catalogue and Description of King Charles the First's Capital Collection of Pictures, Limnings, Statues, Bronzes, Medals, and other Curiosities, 1757; A Catalogue of the Collection of Pictures, &c. belonging to James the Second; to which is added, A Catalogue of the Pictures and Drawings in the Closet of the late Queen Caroline..., 4 double-page engraved plans of the picture hangings, 1758, together 2 works in 1 vol., first editions, the second with annotations in pencil and ink, mostly to the second part (references to Parker's Drawings of Holbein at Windsor Castle and R.A. exhibition of Holbein 1950), some browning, modern morocco-backed cloth, 4to, for W.Bathoe; and 5 others relating to the collection of Charles I, 4to (6)⁂ The magnificent art collection of Charles I was probably the finest collection ever assembled in England, but following his execution the paintings and other treasures were dispersed by Cromwell.The first work was compiled by Abraham Vanderdoort, translated into English by Vertue (from a manuscript in the Ashmolean Museum), and edited by Horace Walpole; the first part of the second work is signed "Will.Chiffinch" and the second part was compiled by Vertue.
