18ct white gold emerald and diamond ring. The ring set with a 5ct Columbian square-cut emerald 10 x 10mm, surrounded by sixteen round-cut diamonds, approx 1.5cts, size O, 8 gms. Condition ReportThe emerald has slight nibbles to the top table, edges with a tiny chip and hairline crack in one corner and on the side edge there is another what looks to be a further hairline to the outside facet but seems to be a internal flaw. We have had a verbal acknowledgment that the ring is Columbian with some oiling. The ring setting is in good condition with no evidence of damage or repair and stamped 18 ct gold.

Air Commodore Arthur Douglas Messenger was bestowed the Hashemite Kingdom (Jordanian) Order of the Star sash badge 9.5 x 9 cm with another Order of the Star with neck ribbon, both with Arabic silver marks. He was also bestowed the Commander Cross of the Order of the British Empire with neck ribbon, Garrard, London (military issue complete with box) on 01/01/1945. This lot includes a hand-painted insignia for Royal Air Force Station, Amman from the College of Arms 1950, approx 27 x 38 cm, framed, together with another hand painted Coat of Arms of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, approx 27.5 x 38 cm, inscription to verso: Presented by King Abdullah in 1950 to Group Captain A.D Messenger so that the latter could incorporate the Hashemite eagle into a badge to be assigned for Royal Air Force Station Amman. Leather trinket box that contains the Air Commodore's yellow gold Rolex Oyster vintage wrist watch, the watch having a hexagonal case with Arabic quarter markers and baton minute markers with blued hands and subsidiary second dial, the case engraved A.D Messenger RAF, together with silver and enamel RAF sweetheart badge, ten large RAF gilt brass buttons and eleven small gilt brass buttons, the box surmounted with RAF Air Commodore Rank Boards. This lot is completed with three Pilot's Flying log books for Air Commodore Arthur Douglas Messenger including his first as a qualified pilot dated 1931 while at R.A.F College and R.A.F Hal Far in a Singapore III with 130 and 205 Squardron, two more as Flight Lieutenant June 1929-1933. A.D Messenger represented the RAF College at Soccer, Tennis, Cricket and Fencing as well as attaining the rank of Flight Cadet Sergeant. He was awarded the John Anthony Change and Hyde Thompson Memorial Prizes on graduation from Cranwell. Career Progression: Pilot Officer 1931, Flying Officer 1933, Flt Lieut 1936, Squadron Leader 1938, Wing Commander 1941, Group Captain 1944, Wing Commander 1946, Group Captain 1949 and Air Commodore 1955.
