Museale Pilgerflasche Venedig 17. Jahrhundert Eine langhalsige, kürbisförmige Flasche aus blauem, venezianischem Glas, welche in einen zweiteiligen, Kupfer getriebenen Schalenmantel gehüllt ist. Dieser ist durchbrochen gearbeitet, im Relief floral und figural geziert und graviert. Die Feuervergoldung ist original. Der ovale, eingezogene Standfuß ist gleichermaßen mit Bandornamenten staffiert. Die durchbrochene Ornamentik des vergoldeten Metallmantels ist auf beiden Schauseiten mittig mit einem Maskaron geschmückt, der seitlich von zwei weiblichen Halbfiguren und Kranichen oder Schwänen flankiert wird, deren Schnabel die Lippen der barbusigen Figuren wie zum Kuss berühren. Den Hals entlang zieren durchbrochene Ornamente die zum Ausguss führen. Diese Gussöffnung ist in Form eines Fabelwesens gehalten, dessen Oberteil durch ein Scharnier aufklappbar ist. Die Glasflasche im Inneren ist einwandfrei erhalten. Der Gesamtzustand der Flasche ist dem Alter entsprechend sehr gut. Lediglich an den Stellen, an denen die Flasche gehalten wird, ist die originale Feuervergoldung berieben. Auch die Kette ist original. Dieses so reich verzierte Gehäuse ist ein wunderbares Beispiel für die Opulenz der Handwerkskunst und der optischen Gestaltung im Barock. Die Ausführung und die dekorativen Elemente erheben diese Pilgerflasche über die Ebene der dekorativen Gebrauchskunst hinaus auf eine skulpturale Ebene. Dieser höfische Typus hat seine Wurzeln in der ledernen Wasserflasche, die der Pilger oder Reisende des Mittelalters bei sich trug. T. Schröder führt in “The Gilbert Collection of Silver and Gold” die Entwicklung der Form bis zu französischen Silbergefäßen des späten 16. Jahrhunderts zurück, die zwar als “demijohns” bezeichnet werden, aber die gleiche Birnenform, den gleichen länglichen Hals und den gleichen ovalen Querschnitt wie spätere Exemplare aufweisen. Im 17. und frühen 18. Jahrhundert wurden besonders große Flakons mit feinem Kartenwerk bzw. Bandwerk hergestellt. Ein schönes Exemplar von Anthony Nelme, datiert 1715, befindet sich in der Sammlung des Herzogs von Devonshire in Chatsworth, Derbyshire. Ein weiteres Exemplar mit dem Wappen von John, 1. Herzog von Marlborough, von John Goode befindet sich in der Sammlung von Earl Spencer, Althorp, Northamptonshire. Zeitgenössische Stiche, wie Martin Engelbrechts Darstellung des großen Silberbuffets im Rittersaal des Berliner Schlosses um 1708, zeigen, dass sie bei feierlichen Banketten auf Seitenbuffets aufgestellt wurden. Katana Japan (Bizen), späte Muromachizeit, Februar 1513 Länge der Klinge 60 cm, Gesamtlänge in Koshirae 95 cm Klinge in Shinogi Zukkuri, Ko-Kissaki, Hamon ohne Politur nicht erkennbar Mei: Datierung „Eisho junen nigatsu“, zehntes Jahr, zweiter Monat der Eisho-Periode, Februar 1513; auf der Rückseite der Angel Signatur „Bizennokuniju Osafune Yosozaemonnojo Sukesada Saku“. Die Osafune-Schule war in Bizen von etwa der Mitte der Kamakurazeit bis in die Momoyamaperiode tätig, Yosozaemonnojo ist der säkulare Name mehrerer Generationen von Schwertschmieden dieser Schule und bezieht sich, gemäß der Datierung, hier auf die erste Generation, geboren 1477, einen der beiden besten Suebizen-Meister (Schmiede in Bizen von 1504-1592), und den bedeutendsten, der den Markennamen Sukesada führt. Die Klinge zeigt etwas Rost, einige Fukure und kleinere Scharten, aber keine schweren Beschädigungen, und würde eine professionelle Politur verdienen. Die Koshirae (Montierung) ist naturgemäß jüngeren Datums, aus der Edozeit. Die Eisentsuba zeigt eine Landschaft mit einem auf einem Felsen wachsenden Baum, einzelne Details sind mit Gold und Kupfer tauschiert. Die Tsuka ist gebrochen, die Menuki fehlen, Fuchi/Kashira sind aus rotem Kupfer und floral graviert. Die Saya zeigt einen Drachen in rotem und goldenem Lack.
