A small silver inkwell, the hinged lid inset with the enamelled reverse of a Florin, 1902, standing Britannia, the base tortoiseshell, Birmingham Hallmark (date letter and maker unclear), stands 1 inch high. Slight damage to white enamel between ONE and FLORIN, a nice Edwardian coin-related item; circular silver 'coin' box, lid and base set with Victorian Halfpenny and Edward VII Penny respectively, maker AB & S, Chester 1902.
A small George II rectangular inkstand, on four bracket feet, with a central baluster handle and pen depression, fitted with a cylindrical inkwell and sander and central taperstick, maker’s mark, London 1728, 5 3/8in (13.6cm), 7oz. Mrs How notes that although there is no maker’s mark on this piece, there is an identical inkstand of 1727, in a private collection with the unregistered maker’s mark IBA in conjunction with full London hallmarks, and a much larger example of the same form in the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, USA
A George III Scottish inkwell, in the form of a square plinth, fitted with two drawers, one for seals, the other for pounce, the obverse with the arms of Jarrow impaling Dore or Door, the reverse inscribed ‘A Small testimony of Esteem and Gratitude for the most Distinguished Attention & Liberality in Administering the Will of the late Worthy & Benevolent Dr Garrow, Edinburgh, 9th April 1796’, maker William Robertson, Edinburgh 1795, (wooden inset base), 3.5in (9cm) high.
