A GROUP OF FIVE ART DECO CARVACRAFT DESK ACCESSORIES IN BUTTERSCOTCH AMBER BAKELITE, comprising a rocker ink blotter, a perpetual calendar, a notepad stand, a standish and a stamp sponge holder, printed marks 'Carvacraft MADE IN GT BRITAIN A DICKINSON PRODUCT' to the undersides, some marks faint, width of standish 28.5cm (condition: the calendar has a glued repair to the rectangular base, small chip to the underside of the sponge stand, the blotter has some chips to the black bakelite rocker, the standish sliding cover is not running smoothly and lacks inkwell, the underside shows old glue around the pen holders, also small chips and small crack in this area)
A 19th century Austro-Hungarian cast-silver inkwell, triangular form with Empire-style decoration, relief embossed classical mask hinged lid, bright-cut foliate engraving, relief floral swags and lion paw feet, marks on lid rim and base of inkwell, height 10cm, 12.4oz Very good overall condition, no obvious damage or repair, hinged lid working and slightly wiggly, no liner, high-points only very slightly rubbed, lightly surface scratched all over with a couple of tiny dents to the body, silver is very heavy gauge, hallmarks also slightly rubbed but still clear.
An Edwardian polished blue agate and silver inkwell desk stand, with removable cut-glass silver-mounted inkwell, reeded and pierced floral silver border and silver swag feet with main thick agate slice body, by George Fox, hallmarks London 1903, base length 17.5cm Good overall original condition, inkwell has a large conchoidal chip on either shoulder, a chip on the inside rim and a few fractures, a small part of the raised silver inkwell frieze is broken and missing, no other obvious losses or repairs, agate is in very good condition, no obvious chips or abrasions, only small natural internal flaws, the silver strapwork on the underside has a personalised engraving, all rivets present, hallmarks slightly rubbed but still clear.

In generally good condition. The replaced glass liner in good condition.

Zola thanks his correspondent for his letter and for the inkwell present offered to him for his literary work, and states in part `…I am flattered and deeply touched. I can only express all my gratitude, and I promise that my inkwell will remain on my table to remind me constantly that I have friends in Spain.´ Folded with overall light foxing stains, and with remnants of former affixing to the verso of second sheet.
