(13.5 x 9cm.), 4½in. (11.5cm.) high.
A 19th century Stourbridge style millefiori paperweight inkwell of compressed onion form, with scrambled canes to the base and multi-coloured mottled neck, with ovoid stopper with tree-form stretched cane inside, base with pontil, 5in. (12.7cm.) high. *Condition: Expected scratching to base. Small crescent shaped bruise crack to widest part of body. No other faults.
A 19th century walnut veneered tea caddy, of sarcophagus form, with cross-banded and strung inlaid boxwood borders, flanked with ivory loop handles, centred with an ivory lock escutcheon, the hinged lid opening to reveal a divisional interior, veneered in satinwood and rosewood, with a central well accommodating a hobnail cut footed clear glass urn, flanked by inserted hinged containers, raised on ivory bun feet, 18 cm high, 33 x 16 cm, together with a three piece leather-clad desk set, comprising pen stand with inkwell, letter opener and blotter, all covered in a tooled leather, in common's green with gilded borders, and an associated picture frame (6).
A Jesse Lasky engraved inkwell gifted to him by Mary PickfordSilver plate desk set double inkwell comprised of 2 heavy cut glass bottles with covers on either side of a candle holder atop a lidded box, all enclosed upon a tray with paw feet, marks effaced, with an engraved inscription: 'Mary to Jesse / Pickford - Lasky / 1936.' Lasky's partnership with Mary Pickford held great promise when it commenced in September 1936. Both had been successful pioneers in the film industry, with Pickford at one time making movies for Lasky's company, Famous Players-Lasky. During their partnership, they made two films together, The Gay Desperado and One Rainy Afternoon (both 1936), but the two headstrong executives clashed often and dissolved their company shortly thereafter.Provenance: the estate of Jesse Lasky, Jr. 7.5 x 12.25 x 4.5 in.
