A Black Forest style carved wood inkwell, decorated an owl and owlets, 14 cm high, and a similar desktop barometer (2) Condition report Report by GH The owl and owlets have possibly been varnished. One of the owlets is missing an eye. The tail of the owl and some of the foliage have received damage, and the base is slightly split down the grains of the wood in three or four places. The barometer is generally in good condition, but the bear on the top is slightly loose, and there are a few small chips and dents, particularly to the foliage.
An early 20th century Black Forest style carved wood inkstand, in the form of a fox carrying a dead bird, 16 cm high, and a similar wall mounted ram's head match holder, with strike (2) Condition report Report by GH The ram's head match holder has had its left hand side of decorative fret work carving broken off and re-glued, which is visible. It may also have been varnished at a date later than manufacture. The inkstand has some chips and cracking, particularly to the back of the base, and what presumably was either a metal or glass inkwell, has been replaced by a rubber item.
A metal inkwell, in the form of a dog, with hinging jaw and glass eyes, 13 cm high, and two table match strikers, one applied a budgie and the other applied a pheasant (3) Condition report Report by GH The dog inkwell is generally in reasonably good condition with dents all around the edge of the brass base, and general wear, scratches and ingrained dirt and old polish. Hinge has probably had a new pin. No major damage or repairs. Both table match strikers are generally in good condition, with some small chips and losses to paint. These do not appear to be cast in bronze but a lighter metal, possibly aluminium or spelter. The dog inkwell generally carried more weight and appears to be a higher quality and older piece.
