A FRENCH NAPOLEAN III GILT BRONZE DESK STAND, by Ferdinand Barbedienne, Paris, c.1870, the quatrefoil stand surmounted with a bust of Napolean I, the surface decorated in bas relief with figures and animals and other motifs in the Grecian style, fitted with two large bulbous oval inkwells with blue glass liners and another inkwell, the entire raised on scroll bracket legs and paw feet, 49 x 30 x 30cm high; together with a matching paper knife in the form of a Greek sword, 33 cm long. Stamped F. Barbedienne, FONDEUR, the paper knife also signed F. Levillian.
