A modern drum-shaped inkwell, with a hinged cover, cast in relief with the coat of arms of the "worshipful company of Goldsmiths" and inscribed around the sides "silver jubilee of King George V 1935 - The gift of Goldsmiths company" by S.Garrard & Co, London 1935 (no liner), 4.1in (10.2cm) dia, 14oz.
A circular silver capstan shape inkwell, engraved initials to the loaded base, a hinged cover, 5in (13cm) diameter, and a pair of silver candlesticks with baluster turned stems and wood inset loaded circular bases, and a small toast rack, 6in (15cm). Different dates, Birmingham and London. (4)

A George III period burr yew-wood and tulipwood crossbanded cylinder desk After a design by Thomas Sheraton the full width frieze drawer above a cylinder fall enclosing a fitted interior of ogee arched pigeon-holes, flanked by six short drawers above a slide with leathered slope on ratchet adjustment between pen tray and inkwell recesses, the two long graduated drawers with foliate stamped brass oval handles, on square tapering gaitered legs ending in brass socket castors, the whole inlaid with boxwood lines 83.5cm wide, 106cm high, 46.5cm deep Literature: 18th Century Furniture - The Norman Adams Collection, Christopher Claxton Stevens & Stewart Whittington (Antiques Collectors' Club: repr.1989), pp. 128-129, for an almost identical version in amboyna wood. The authors also illustrate further example in yew wood, but with a bookcase top section (ibid., p.215). Cf. Sheraton's original sketch for this model in his 'Drawing Book', plate 47: ' A Cylinder Desk and Bookcase''. (Re-printed within Ralph Edwards's Dictionary of English Furniture, op. cit., fig. 87, p.161) Also, compare with a similar yew wood bureau cabinet, with one drawer beneath the cylinder, in Sheraton Furniture, Ralph Fastnedge (1962), pl.74. A 17th Century Faience Inkwell. The top pierced with inkwell & quill holder apertures and having cherub heads adorning the corners. The sides decorated in relief with mermaids, the back panel depicting three figures amidst flames representing souls in torment, the front depicting the Nativity scene; the relief moulding in cream glaze raised against a mottled green glaze ground. The front having a serpentine moulded protruding gallery tray. 4 1/2 ins high, 6 ins x 7 1/4 ins (11.5 cms x 15 cms x 18.5 cms).

19th Century Staffordshire Pottery (possibly Coalbrookdale) Encrier, the domed cover with floral finial and encrusted with petals and leaves, within a gilt rim and enclosing compartmented interior with removable inkwell, tapered fluted body and on a shaped scroll, moulded base and unmarked, but numbered 3643, 13cms, (5") and a Staffordshire Pottery two-handled Sugar Bowl with domed cover, encrusted with flowers and on scrolled feet, 11cms, (4½"), (2).
