A mid Victorian large mahogany twin pedestal cylinder desk - bureau. Raised on plinth based pedestals each with a series of drawers. Above a large cylinder bureau with toll top enclosing a pull out desk top being gilt tooled leather. Fully appointed interior having inkwell drawer etc. Dismantles into 3 pieces complete with discretion panel. The reverse of the pedestals having cupboards. Measures: 111cm x 76cm x 152cm.
An Edwardian crocodile skin covered travelling case with fitted interior to include ivory handled brushes, shoe horns, cut throat razors, silver topped glass bottles, silver topped inkwell, a silver and gilt pot with gilt-washed interior and integral funnel, etc, (mostly by George Henry James & Co, London, 1907), 63.5 cm x 20 cm CONDITION REPORTS Exterior of the case with some marks, scratches, crocodile skin becoming loose in places. Tatty to the corners, especially worn to the corners. Losing its shape slightly. Various impressed marks, scratches, scuffs etc throughout. To the interior the crocodile skin is becoming loose, tatty, scuffed, ripped, etc, especially around the edges. The attachments which hold the razor sharpener in place is loose and does not fit properly. Steel bladed implements are becoming rusty. Various scratches and scuffs. Some pot lids are loose and one glass pot is missing. Small scratches, small dents etc. Some of the fittings holding the pots and boxes in place are becoming loose, ripped etc and require attention. General signs of wear and tear through use evident throughout.
A William IV rosewood and brass mounted vanity case, the lid opening to reveal a vanity mirror, various cut glass and silver mounted dressing table bottles (Archibald Douglas, London, 1832), the brass locking mechanism bearing crown with VR, 20.5 cm x 26 cm CONDITION REPORTS Case has various splits to the wood, especially to the lid, and water stains and marks. The brass binding is very discoloured, pitted, signs of verdigris etc. The pins appear to be replacements are they are protruding. Appears to have had patched repairs. There are sections of brass binding missing from both longer edges on the base. The interior case is bruised and there are some losses to the veneer. Both long dressing table bottles are cracked. One of the larger glass bottles - the silver lid does not fit correctly. The squat rectangular glass bottle is chipped to one corner. The smaller taller glass bottle has chips and the silver lid is squashed. One silver inkwell appears to have a replacement lid and a replacement base and these are not hobnailed and not engraved to top. All glass has some fritting and chipping. The leather lining has scrapes, knocks and bumps where the bottles have been pulled in and out, some which are quite tight fitting. The velvet lid of the centre box appears not to fit precisely. The pen is additional. The mirror is cloudy and the protective pouch is stiff to remove from the clasp. There is also a rip to the velvet and several stitches. General wear and tear, scuffs, scratches.
Chinese cloisonne inkwell and cover, on a wooden stand, 14cm CONDITION REPORT: Body - gilding slightly worn on rim, appears in good condition, no obvious major damage or dents, rather dirty. This is gilt bronze, the interior well has a very slight cracking to interior enamel at the joint. Wooden stand appears good apart from repair (re-gluing) to tip of one of the scrolls. Lid - slight dent to interior rim, three slight losses to enamel inside lid, exterior is rather dirty, slight rubbinf to edge gilding, not much gilding left on lion dog which has verdigris. Slight scrapes, no obvious dents or losses, hole slightly visible beneath knop. (lion dog).

A Hallmarked silver topped scent bottle, with hob nail cut glass design and brass Tudor rose lidded topped glass ink well together with a selection of plated flatware . The scent bottle is complete with it's stopper, though there are small chips, mainly to the lower hemisphere, and a small dent to the lid. The inkwell has no obvious sign of significant damage or repair.
