EDWARDIAN HORSE HOOF INKWELL stamped to the base 'Rowland Ward Limited, 166 Piccadilly', with a hinged lid ; Rowland Ward Ltd of Piccadilly, London, was one of the largest and most famous taxidermy firms in the world. It was founded in 1898 by James Rowland Ward, who had previously traded as J. Rowland Ward, and Ward & Co. Ltd. Ward made many hunting trips to Africa and India, and supplied many taxidermy specimens to museums throughout the world.
A Rockingham inkwell with shell moulded C scroll rim decorated with a seaweed pattern in gilt and a similar inkwell with claret ground, lion mask handles, gilded and enamelled with flowers. Rockingham well with a printed puce mark, 9.75cm wide. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Rockingham well with a slight hair crack and missing its liner. Claret well with a tiny rim chip.

Mahogany stationery and writing box with calendar cards for 1902, the fall front and rising top revealing a fitted interior, width 33cm. Condition report: good condition overall, there appears to be some restoration including repolishing and minor repairs; the leather parts may have been replaced; some chips on the inside of the inkwell neck and the inkwell is too small for its housing; some minor shrinkage under the veneer on the top and front.
