A Victorian J W Allen Gladstone bag style black leather travelling dressing set case, the hinged top opening to reveal a crimson fitted interior, the base containing seven silver topped faceted glass vanity bottles to one side, all by Thomas Whitehouse, assayed London 1885, one of these containing an ivory handled toothbrush marked "Allen, Strand", the other side containing a pair ivory clothes brushes, an ivory hairbrush, a leather sewing wallet gilt tooled "Allen Maker" and details, and leather card case, the lid interior containing ivory and steel combined shoe horn and button hook, ivory glove stretchers and others, case interior rim gilt tooled and with "J.W.Allen Maker, 37 Strand, London", the bag exterior with fitted side pockets, one containing an Allen Maker black leather writing wallet, a Berrys Patent leather covered travelling inkwell and matching leather covered vesta.
