A late 19th century clear-glass inkwell of squat ovoid form -  four green glass highlights trailing to the feet, the silver hinged lid engraved with monogram and with assay marks for London 1900 (10.5cm wide x 9cm high)Condition Report: It is noted that there is a little fingernail sized dent to the rear of the hinged lid to the LH side of the engraved monogram. The rest of the silver mount and hinged lid appears in good general overall condition, the hinge is good and then flat neck mounting and fixing appears good with no issues. Glass-wise the underside of the feet exhibit scratches as expected commensurate with use and age. The pontil mark appears good with a matchhead size bubble inside the glass produced when originally made etc. All other aspects appear good.

Lot 256

A large and heavy early 19th century ormolu double inkwell (probably French) - seated winged central cherubic figure bearing two drumsticks, the hinged wells modelled as timpani-type drums (no liners), the base with swags and resting on four paw-style feet (20cm wide x 12.5cm highest point at drumstick)Condition Report: It is noticed that the gilding has dulled with age (to be expected) and upon inspection there are some dark spotting areas to the platform that the drums are sitting on and also on the drum lids - this may clean off. No damages are noted - all appears in good original order with no major breakages or problems noted. Looking front-on the left-hand drum at the rim at the front it is very thin and there is a tiny matchhead piece away, mainly visible from the inside of the drum once the lid has been opened. There is also a hairline which could superficial and cannot be seen on the outside of the drum. None of these minor issues detract from a very nice item indeed.
