An Edwardian inkstand by Charles Stuart Harris, the rectangular stand with gadrooned borders, two pierced and gadrooned inkwell sections containing two cut glass bottles with gadrooned silver-mounted lids, and a central plain compartment, the lid being a gadrooned taper stick, the ring handle holding a plain conical snuffer. The stand with twin pen rests and supported on four stepped feet. London 1902. (See illustration)

A Russian silver-gilt and shaded cloisonné enamel inkwell, Fabergé, Moscow, 1899-1908. the oval well on four stud feet, the sides with four circular reserves supporting stylized flowerheads, among scrolling flowers on a cream -coloured ground, the top similarly decorated and with four cockerels, with two pen-holders, the central inkpot with a hinged cover decorated with a stylized double-headed eagle, the neck with geometric pattern, marked in full on the lower rim beneath Imperial Warrant, and with the initials K.F. in the interior of the wells, 18.5cm wide, 7cm maximum height, 15.5cm deep. A Russian silver-gilt and shaded cloisonné enamel desk set, Pavel Ovchinnikov, Moscow, 1908-1917. comprising an inkstand with inkwell, a blotter, and a pair of table candlesticks, decorated in the art nouveau style in pastel tones with stylized scrolling foliage, trees and strawberry motifs, the lower border of the inkstand in pale-blue (5), Candlesticks 14cm high, base 15cm high, 21.5cm wide. A George I silver desk stand, Courtauld, London 1721-22. the tray of rounded rectangular outline with moulded everted rim and engraved with armorial to opposing sides, centrally applied with simple raised stand with pull out drawer and applied with three moulded stands for chalk pot, inkwell and table bell all engraved with crest with coronet above, 31cm wide, 76oz, Heraldry: Engraved with the Arms of Thomas Howard, 8th Duke of Norfolk, the boxes and bell with the crest and Ducal coronet for the Dukes of Norfolk, Note: With engraved scratch weight to underside of tray 80=10. Drawers in inkstands are unusual, however the Courtaulds made others: One by Augustine, 1730 (illus. E. A. Jones, Old English Plate of the Emperor of Russia, 1909, pl.XLV). Another by Samuel Courtauld, 1749, is in the Ashmolean Museum, Engraved with the Arms of Thomas Howard, 8th Duke of Norfolk, the boxes and bell with the crest and Ducal coronet for the Dukes of Norfolk, Notes: with engraved scratch weight to underside of tray 80 . 10. A VICTORIAN CAST BRASS AND BRONZED DESK PLATFORM WITH GLASS INKWELL, the faceted globular inkwell with brass hinged collar surmounted by a standing stag, retardant, centred within a bas relief cast base of rounded square form, each corner segment depicting various game birds and animals between baroquesque scrolling shell and mask decoration, on four scrolling supports. Stamped JG & Sons, numbered 109. 30cm x 30cm x 20cm high.
